Hypothetical: Trading the 1.1 and Albert to the Eagles...

The Eagles apparently LOVE Geno. They want him so much that the entire FO, including the owner worked him out.

The Eagles also have some major problems with their O-line. It, along with the DBs were a huge part of their problem last year. Some say that their O-line might bounce back this year, but Peters blew out his Achilles twice. On a man that big, that doesn't bode well for the future. Albert is a proven player.

Assuming that the Chiefs are going to trade down this year, and it is a pretty safe assumption that they will try, and assuming that Albert is indeed on the market, what would it take for you to pull the trigger on a trade with the Eagles that would send our 1.1 and Albert to Philly?

Philly has pretty high picks this year, and lets face it, they will, in all likelihood have high picks next year.

This board has gone full reerun. Two months ago I would have loved to have the consensus pick of CP decide our first round moves. Now I'd rather have ***** than let you yahoos make the decisions. What are you going to do? Turn down the best offer you get because its not enough?

Oh, okay, so we should just tell teams to **** off. We are happy to stay at 1.1, not draft a quarterback, and watch as Branden Albert walks away for free in a year.

If the chiefs take Geno Smith, thenn I don't give a **** what they get for Albert. Sorry, but he can go straight to free agency if it means drafting a QB in the first round. If we DON'T draft Geno, then we sure as shit better not be still drafting first overall. At that point you take the best offer, period. If Philly came calling to trade for a pick we are gonna waste and a player we are gonna let walk, then this front office better ****ing get something - anything - for them.

I don't understand you people that think we are in a position to turn down the best trade offer on the table - not because we have a better offer, but because we don't deem it high enough.

We don't get any points for holding out and walking away. We just get ****ed.

As I said before; a face-raping trade that Lil Chiefy will attempt to justify for years to come.

I would just be interested in their next years first. Hopefully Alex shits the bed as does Geno his first year so you package the picks for who ever the next top qb is...

You say that now. But you know that come next draft everyone will be clamoring for Clowney with the #1 pick... just like many want the LT this year.

I think people have it backwards.

Philly is supposed to be adding extra to their pick when trading up, not the other way around.

two different trades IF Albert goes

trade 1:
Chiefs - 1.4,2.3 and next year's 1st
Philly - 1.1

trade 2:
Chiefs - 1.12
Miami - Albert

I would do Trade 1 in a heartbeat. Is that really an equivalent trade?

Treat it as a separate trade. It doesn't matter.

Right now we are looking at the Fins giving us a 2.11 and a conditional pick in '14 (prolly a 3rd) for Albert.

Moving down to to 1.4 would probably net us another 2nd this year and next.

So. Which would be better? A "package" trade that gets us a first and second this year and next, or an individual trade with the Eagles and Fins which gets us a first this year, the Eagles second this year and a lower second this year, and a second and third next year?

Anyone who thinks we are getting a draft's worth of picks this year and next must think we are dealing with Ditka.

Use the first and second this year for Reid's tackles and we are set at O-line for the next 10 years.

Next year we'd have enough ammo to either select one of the QB's if Smith flames out or we could put ourselves in position for Clowney with four picks in the top 64. Even if you don't go for Clowney, everything would be a luxury pick at that point.

If you're Reid and Dorsey, and you think Alex is the long term answer at QB and you aren't sold on Geno, you've basically aquired your franchise QB for moving down one spot in the second round in this years draft and next year's third; you've moved a good, but not great, LT and cleared his salary off the books while picking up two OTs in this draft (assuming tackle is drafted in the first and second round, ie Fisher/Armstead or whoever); and you've picked up a first and second in next year's draft.

In short, from Reid's and Dorsey's perspective, you're still getting what you want, you've just picked up a first and second in next year's draft for the price of a third round pick in the draft next year.

i edited my previous posts because i thought it might of been misleading.

Washington gave two additional 1st round picks in that trade, one in 2013 and one in 2014.

Washington traded up 4 slots (6th to 2nd)
Philly would be trading up 3 slots (4th to 1st)

One extra spot for Washington but Philly is also moving up to the 1st pick which has move value. RGIII was considered a better prospect than Geno Smith is so that is where the extra 1st round pick comes into play.

All depends on whether Philly really likes Geno Smith or not.

I would too. Unfortunately, I don't think we can get a 1 for Albert this year. If we could......

Actually, I'd almost prefer a 1 next year for him if we could get the Eagles 2.3 this year. That would be three 1s next year. Clowney here we come.

Based on WalterFootball's 2014 draft, we could probably land Clowney using only one of those picks, or one and our second. I know that judging a mock draft a year + away is an exercise in futility, but it's fun to think of.

Let's say we DO, for whatever reason, work out a trade where we give Albert for Philly's 1 next year, and work some trade to get a third team's 1 in 2014 (no idea how that would work, but we're playing in hypotheticals here, so whatever).

We could draft Joekel this year (ugh), and Marquise Lee, Jadeveon Clowney, and a guy like CJ Moseley, in 2014. Would you take those four if it meant no Geno or Albert, and having Smith as the guaranteed starter through 2015?
