Personal Bragging: My 50th Donut

Last Saturday's visit to Dunkin Donuts (in 42 degree temps in the rain, I might add) was my 50th donut eaten since I started my hobby in November 2013.

My vital statistics are:

Completed donuts in 12 donut shops so far (3 Dunkin Donuts, 2 Krispy Kremes, 4 Doughnut Heavens, and 3 Donuts D Lite)

Median pace = 4.1 donuts per store
Median pace in flat, one-level stores = 3.6 per store
Fastest pace = 7 per store (Doughnut Heaven – traditional glazed, one level)
Slowest pace = 1 per store (Dunkin Donut – bear claw, three levels, 30 stairs from first floor to third floor, and it was sooo good.)

14 have been at 1st floor, 1-10 feet (Median pace = 3.6)
21 have been at 2nd floor, 10-20 feet (Median pace = 4.1)
9 have been at 3rd floor, 20-30 feet (Median pace = 3.2)
9 have been to go orders at varying heights (Median pace = 3.3)

26 have been more or less powdered donuts (powdered sugar, cocoa, cinnamon and sugar)
12 have had moderate frosting, like a glazed donut or cake donut
6 have had strong filling levels, like a jelly donut
9 have had major fillings like a Long John or an apple fritter

3 trips to stores were completed in the rain and 1 in snow.

I've only vomited once, and it wasn't in the rain or snow. (It was a tainted Fluffernutter cruller)

24 were primarily vanilla
6 were primarily chocolate
20 were varying fruits and flavorings

I've gone the wrong way on checkout lines 4 times, but only twice did it for more than 30 seconds. The worst mistake added 10 minutes to my visit.

I've also had 2 1-donut trips and a Boston Crème donut in there, so that's 53 donuts in 27 days.

He's trying to gloss it over, but this apple fritter filling scandal has a chance to take down this whole thread.

It's like a filling, RM. It's got chunks of apple and gel stuff. It's not a traditional filling, per se, but most donuts don't have chunks of stuff in them.

You're talking yourself further into the hole. The doughnut hole. If you don't find a picture of an apple fritter with filling soon, this whole thing could spiral out of control.

The problem with this hypothesis is that the apple and gel is also clearly visible, and dare I say attached, to the outside of the fritter. How can you call something on the outside of a donut a filling? I've already wrote a letter to my congressman to help get the bottom of this scandal.

Are you describing some sort of tart or a fritter?

Fritters have filling on the inside to my knowledge.

Mixed in the dough is correct. Hence, some of that mix will be on the outside and you will be able to see apple chunks. This means it is not a filling.

You obviously have never had a blueberry cake doughnut. Blueberry cake doughnuts are one of America's greatest achievements.

That is a good one. Apple fritters are on a whole other level though.
