What kind of advantage could a car get by the modification of some sheet metal in the C posts? Perhaps weight?

But whatever, I'm glad they got nailed. Probably won't have much long term affect on the team though. |

NASCAR site cites a rule that states aerodynamic enhancement, so that must be it

you can change the aero with the springs and the track bar but that effects the tire wear. I am sure this was made to tighten up the car without adding drag. (Of course wear on tires isn't as bad at tona)

Oh, I don't doubt that they did it to gain an advantage, just thought the description of the area was a bit odd.

The competition is so tough and you can see how close things are when you look at the qualifying times of the field at any track. Every nascar team is digging around that grey area to get a advantage. Knaus crosses the line more often. So I ask you this. Do you believe the legacy of knaus/johnson with the 5 championships is now tarnished with all the times they've been caught cheating? Same comparison to the patriots with the spygate deal?

Everyone cheats in nascar. From the executives of nascar to the catch can man. Jimmie Johnson and Chad Knaus are no more prone to it than Dick Trickle or Dave Marcis to Roger Penske or Junior Johnson.
You can't suspend the drivers or you lose sponsorships. You lose the millions supporting these teams. Sponsors don't want to brand themselves with a crew chief, owner or a car make. They look to brand themselves alongside a driver. Not his fill-in for the next 4 weeks. |

All right now back to some regular racing so we can see who's got what. I'm a Chevy guy, but I tell ya those Ford motors were smokin at Daytona...........lets just hope that was because they have a better restrictor plate program and Chevy and Toyota.
