Houston-Defensive Player of the week!

The AFC's defensive player of the week is not a surprise: KC Chiefs LB Justin Houston.

For the second time in three weeks, Justin Houston is being honored for his work after a Kansas City Chiefs victory. The NFL announced on Wednesday that Houston has been named the AFC defensive player of the week following his performance against the Philadelphia Eagles last Thursday.

This is fitting considering we just watched "Derrick Thomas: A Football Life" last night.

Clearly, this is deserved. All Houston did was force a fumble, record seven tackles, two fumble recoveries, three passes defensed and sacked quarterback Michael Vick 4.5 times. 4.5! That moves his total to 7.5 sacks on the season, which means he is the NFL sack leader at the moment. He had three sacks against the Jacksonville Jaguars in the season opener.

We were all thinking / hoping that Houston would have a huge breakout year and our hopes appear to be coming true. Houston has had 11 games in which he sacked a quarterback, and seven of those games included more than one sack. So he usually doesn't just stop at one.

He's a monster. And he's been fun to watch.

Also, here's a headline you don't want to see the week before you play Justin Houston: "For Giants o-line, blocking is a lost art"

Same time, same place next week?

Well, considering he's one two of these things in the first three weeks; he's actually on pace for 10.67.

Let's just call it 11.
