Chiefs Wilkerson To Visit Chiefs - Page 4

The Kansas City Chiefs apparently have some interest in free agent DT Muhammad Wilkerson. According to Calvin Watkins of Newsday, the Chiefs are on Wilkerson’s free agent visit.

Wilkerson, one of the top defensive linemen available, visited the Packers this week then it’s the Saints and then the Chiefs ... if he makes it to Kansas City and another team doesn’t sign him first.

The Jets cut him last week two years into a five-year, $86 million contract so something was going on there. Wilkerson was reported to have shown up late to meetings with the Jets so he’ll have to show free agent teams how dedicated he is. Or he’ll just have to be so good teams put up with showing up late.

The connection to the Chiefs is Bob Sutton, who was in New York for a couple years with Wilkerson.

Hope we make it happen. I think Veach tries to nail Mo and Watkins down to go along with Amerson, and then adds a backup QB and maybe a linebacker.

Then we draft defense and a guard.

Veach has the right idea in mind, IMO.

This FA class is shit, but the WRs are nice. He’s going to sign one. Maybe he gets Wilkerson. He’s going to find a couple more mid-tier guys. He’s going to draft heavy on defense.

And then next offseason, hopefully you have a chance to sign some better defenders.

If we could nab Wilkerson and Star to be the NT, our DL might be quite decent. We’d cut Bailey in that scenario I imagine.

We have no idea if they will be “cheap” or not...or if they will even sign with KC.

Let’s temper any optimism till deals are finalized and details are announced.

I have no idea what it’ll be. I’ll be optimistic because it’s better to be that than pessimistic.

We need to add a FA cornerback. Going into the season with Fuller, Nelson, Amerson and even a ''high'' draft pick at CB is too much of an unknown.
