Haley was a ****ing terrible judge of talent. First, he wanted no one but Palko as his back up QB and then he released Waters. What a ****ing dumbass. waters was hands down the best o-linemen in football last year. Not the best guard. The best o-linemen period. Several main stream media outlets wrote about him.

You guys can bitch about Waters all you want but, Lilja couldn't pay him to let him lick his nutsack. Lilja was the worst offensive linemen last year by far. Richardson was not as bad as Lilja imo. The jail break always starts with Lilja. Just like it did last week. Waters giving us 60% would be better than Lilja.

No, because Waters was usually here for Training camp. I think he was always here for training camp. Waters has never attended voluntary OTA's though, and I could not have given a shit less. It's not a big deal. You don't win games during OTA's.

You know who else skipped all voluntary OTA's? Priest Holmes. Yet nobody ever really bitched about it....

Are we now pretending Waters always skipped training camp?

Easy on the hyperbole.

Lilja wasn't even the worst offensive linemen on our team. He's not worse than Richardson and you saying otherwise won't make it true. Waters wasn't the best guard in the NFL last year (my money is on Nicks), let alone the best offensive linemen.

I disagree and alot of others do to. Nicks is younger and that makes him more valuable. Waters was better.

Quote:
On offense, guard Brian Waters has helped to stabilize an offensive line that is playing without center Dan Koppen. SI’s Peter King put Waters on his All Pro team and some believe he’s outplayed teammate Logan Mankins this year.

“He’s earned every bit of his respect here,” said Bill Belichick Tuesday via CSNNe.com. “He’s tough, he’s a good football player. He’s really made some outstanding plays, individual plays that you don’t see many other players at that position make. He’s a high-quality player and a high-quality individual. He’s very unselfish, team-oriented.”

Waters, a former NFL Man of the Year, faces his old team the Chiefs on Monday night. When Waters struggled to find a job right after the lockout, there was some speculation that his involvement in lockout matters hurt his chances of getting a gig.

There’s no way to know if that’s true, but clearly Waters had a lot of football left.

Waters hasn't announced his retirement and he still has a locker at Gillette. I'm pretty confident that he's coming back. I'm certainly very HOPEFUL that he's coming back because the Pats OLine definitely needs him. He was outstanding for us last year.

They haven't cleaned out his locker yet or removed his nameplate, so either he's definitely coming back, or he hasn't decided yet.

Thank God we chose Ryan Lilja over this guy...

Waters was a stud, is a stud and would make a HUGE difference for this team this season. If nothing else, he'd probably be the best center in the league (if Hudson doesn't transition well) and we know how strong a run-blocking guard he is.

Still a reeruned cut for a team with the cap space this one has.

Relax. You're right about skipping OTAs, but showing up to camp. However, he did show up to camp out of shape. Waters always seemed to think he was above everyone else.

We can all thank Pioli for the awesome drafts recently and the excellent position the roster is in and everything - but something that concerns me (and should concern others) is the odd mismanagement of some of that talent. Letting players like Waters and Shaun Smith go is questionable at best.

Smith was bad for the Titans last year, by his own admission, and has just been cut.

He was getting straight clowned by Dick Seymour in 2010.

His run blocking was god awful. We saw it in gifs, we saw it on PFF.

I'm not sure why he's better in New England (his PFF grade reflects an improvement, too). Do they run a different blocking scheme?
