Even if Joeckel slides past the Chiefs, though, he will find no shortage of teams interested in his talent — so much so, in a few cases, that the rest of the top 5 (Jacksonville, Oakland, Philadelphia and Detroit) might be able to swing a draft-day trade contingent on Joeckel’s availability.
Now, not sure why the Chiefs couldn't swing a draft-day trade... but apparently the other 4 teams can.

These writers are playing the percentages. They know that the Chiefs hate to draft QBs. In 30 years the Chiefs haven't drafted one in the first round so that is what they are predicting will happen again. Reid will take a QB in round one because he knows there isn't one on the team now.

Also... Smith selected a smaller, lesser known and less powerful agent/group to represent him. If he had signed with, say, CAA, and had Tom Condon representing him...

I would bet everything that the talking heads would be pushing Geno Smith at No. 1 like crazy.

The early draft hype is all about how well and how much the agent pulls the "big-name" media guys' strings.

Right now they're trolling... When it comes right down to it the choice of Geno may not be the traditional #1 pick based on talent alone, but there is a glaring need that most of these guys are just discounting too much IMO.

If you swing and whiff we'll see pretty soon and we can take a QB in another draft. It's not like the past where missing at #1 crippled your franchise. But I don't see why we don't invest in Branden Albert (no need at LT then), we have Poe/Powe at DT (the only other position I've really heard promoted by the "experts"), and there's no way you burn the #1 on an ILB who just got handily outplayed. You take a QB, knowing if everything falls apart you do it again next season and you're set at back-up.

The only caveat is if you can out-maneuver other teams and take him later for more picks. This is why Reid's statements about maybe not taking a QB don't bother me at all at this point. If we can get someone else in the top 5 who isn't the Raiders to deal then you deal...but unfortunately I could see Jax take him at #2 so the "out-maneuver" option probably doesn't exist unless you're willing to settle for another QB and you're willing to let the draft order tell you who that QB will be.

If we do select any position other than a QB then we need to be prepared to trade back into the 1st round and select the QB we want.

1st round (1st pk) - ???
1st round(15th pk) - Tyler Wilson

I just don't see Tyler Wilson lasting that long after workouts and he shows off that arm.

Not with this many teams needing QB.

US, Jax, Oak, Buff, Arizona.

And after that there are about 12 teams that don't need one...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

There are also teams like SD and DAL that could draft a QB because their starters are on the downhill side of their career.

Vikings could too, they don't have shit.

I'm not saying he would either.

I'm just saying that if the Chiefs do decide they prefer Wilson and their research shows that the QB's aren't going top 5 then they MUST have a plan/trade in place to jump back up.

we have the 2nd pick of the 2nd round.

So we would have to trade back up 15-20 slots

I don't know what that would take in terms of trade.

That's not a red flag. That's a straight-up black ball.

Do NOT draft this douche.

I don't care about a tat.

I care about the attitude that led to the tat. I care that he's full pimped on him-having-some-him.

Perhaps the 2nd or 3rd most talented guy in the draft - but a total washout...

If there is a QB that is a top 10 talent, and you have the #1 pick, you take him #1.

Not sure what is so difficult to understand about that.
