The contract he got is what makes this deal so much sweeter for me. Between the picks and the cash, Minnesota could really have all of this blow up in their face ala Herschel Walker all over again.

not to mention that is 30 MILL we can distribute to FA's in a year or two....

this move makes so much sense for a team completely rebuilding, when you really think about it...

I agree, but doesn't it also make last year's LJ deal look even crazier? How to account for the stark contrast? Does this demonstrate that Carl is in fact not calling the shots? I know, I know, DUI's, etc...but still.

We were coming off a playoff appearance, so I don't think it's that crazy that he thought we could keep the team competitive.

After this past season though, it looks like the higher-ups correctly realized that it's time for a rebuild.

Yes. LJ should have been traded. I think many of us said that at the time.

It took me awhile but I've finally come to the conclusion that Carl is a fucking moron.

Look what it's done for the Royals for the past 20 years!

KC is now home to TWO major league farm clubs that develop young players and then let someone else sign them away when their rookie contract expires. Hooray.

Good NFL teams know when to blow up and start again. The Chiefs are going that route, although a year or so later than they should.

Good point. Take a look:

After The Rush

The Vikings better hope that Jared Allen doesn't suffer the same fate as every other sack champion recently. They have all posted fewer sacks the year after winning the crown.

Year-----Player----------Sacks-----Next year
2007-----J.Allen----------15.5---------?
2006-----S.Merrim@n-----17----------12.5
2005-----D.Burgess-------16----------11
2004-----D.Freeney-------16----------11
2003-----M.Strahan-------18.5---------4
2002-----J.Taylor----------18.5--------13
2001-----M.Strahan--------22.5--------11
2000-----L.Glover----------17-----------8
