Peter King: How all 32 NFL teams stack up as of now

Chiefs are ranked.......Wait for it.....................

29th.

29. Kansas City
Could the Chiefs be this year's Dolphins, a team that gets a quarterback and magically starts being competent? Don't think so. Not unless the front seven of Kansas City is a lot better than it appears right now. The Chiefs surrendered an alarming 5.0 yards per rush last year, and that's not going to change overnight just because they're playing a 3-4 now and because they picked a couple of big bodies, Tyson Jackson and Alex Magee, with their first two choices in the draft.

OK, I understand the criticism. In fact, I AGREE with the criticism. Our run defense was the worst part about last year's team, but the lack of sacks overshadowed it.

I just don't understand where he gets "that's not going to change overnight" because we picked Jackson and Magee. We've changed as many as 5 guys in our front 7. Why ELSE would it change overnight? Or is he just saying that it won't ever change? Because his basic premise doesn't make any sense.

It certainly doesn't take into account the rest of the team or the building philosophy of Pioli( remember all that Special Teams jack we picked up before the draft? ).

I like being underrated at this stage though. Keep's egos low, and noses to the grindstone. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if The Don put the word out:

"You don't praise SHIT until I TELL YOU TO".

While i agree with the premise about our team on paper. It's pretty meaningless because we don't know what impact new coaching, and hopefully a mentality, will have on the overall productivity of our team.

Or all the new players.

His basic premise is that the front 7 sucks and just because we got 4 or 5 new starters, that isn't going to change.

I'm struggling to figure out how it will EVER change if getting new players isn't the answer.

The run D was awful, but even if you change everything it won't be any better because Peter King says so.

The team's changed coaching staffs, switched from a 4-3 to a 3-4, added 2 old players to its linebacker corps, is moving last year's first round pick to end, is counting on a rookie lineman to step up, and hasn't shown that it's got a viable nose tackle. It shouldn't come as a surprise that he's got them ranked down by the bottom of the barrel.

It's May. It's a power ranking. It's just makework.

If it makes people feel better, Steelers fans are furious because there favorite team is ranked #2 instead of #1.

It's not a surprise. I think pretty much everyone would agree on his CONCLUSION.

The logic he used to arrive at that conclusion is questionable, at best.

It takes time to build a team into a contender, especially when that team is as bereft of talent as the Chiefs were. When you break down teams for talent, where do you really think the Chiefs ranked last year?

Several notches above where our coaches would have been ranked.
