Why did the Royals sign Lima?

And, given that we did sign him, why is he pitching in our "Ace" slot? Seriouly, are we really going to run his sorry ass out there every fifth day? Gobble couldn't possibly suck this badly.

Lima will be good again in about 3 years.

I guess to be a veteran leader/innings eater but he is basically a loss waiting to happen every 5th day right now. Maybe he turns it around but I don't have a lot of faith in that.

I would have rather seen Synder in the rotation. I thought he looked good in the spring.

1. He had two good years in a row.. not counting the last two crappy starts...

2. He is in the slot because, we wanted our best players at home... He could also handle getting rocked in the opener... detroit has some killer hitters...

3. Gobble would suck and not be able to bounce back.. Lima can bounce back...

I didnt think it was a bad signing at all at the time and especially at the cheap price. I have never liked his stuff much but he has gotten decent results over the last two seasons.

Just keep you girlfriend away from him unless you want to risk shit festering on your johnson.

Split was talking tonight about how his fastball and change were about the same speed right now. That is not a good sign.

I think mainly he is a good influence in the club house, something that was needed after last seasons pathetic showing.

And i thought after his last season with us after we didnt give him what he wanted he didnt have that good of things to say about the club.
His record last year was with the dodgers and they have the batters that we dont, if we wanted him to show the young guys how to act and so on why didnt we just hire him as a coach.
He is a JOKE..............

By the way, what do you guys think about Andy Sisco so far? Think he can stay on the Royals' 25-man roster all year?

I think he has a good future ahead of him. Good arm and makeup. I think there is no chance of him being dropped off the 25-man roster no matter what he does.

I've read the board over on cubs.com... none of the Cubs fans seem to think he'll last, but I do. Pitched 3 innings tonight, allowed 1 hit, no runs, no walks, 3 K. Pretty good. Allard Baird (Royals GM) said coming out of camp that he'd pitched well enough to make the team whether he was Rule V or not. So far, I'm not sure we've had a better reliever. He gave up a couple runs opening day, but he got yanked and somebody else inherited those runners and let them score. Considering he's jumping all the way up from A ball, I'm pretty impressed so far. I thought we'd use him selectively, but so far we've thrown him into the fire and he's responded. With his potential we just can't let that go... a 6'10" lefty that can run it up there at 95, pretty rare.

I would agree that there's little chance he comes back, just because it seems like the Royals can afford to keep one spot for a guy like that. Haven't seen him, but I was interested in the impressions of those who have.

The Royals wanted Paul Byrd, he went to LAA and we got "Herpes Time!".
