Way to take the high road, k"u"

Sorry if repost, but...

Damn! k"u" does have the classiest fans!

as per the KC Star-

"Henn said KU doesn’t want to be embarrassed by making fun of opponents, diseases like anorexia or a Joe-College shirt that made fun of slavery.

Hold it … KU is playing the race card?

The shirt in question pokes fun at MU having to pick cotton in the lowly Cotton Bowl while KU got to play in the more prestigious Orange Bowl. The front of the shirt reads “Hawk Football.” The back reads, “Missouri, it’s your turn to pick cotton (Nice bowl game).”

In a perfect world, future KU T-shirts should adhere to higher standards, Henn argued, “that we don’t bash our rivals, that we don’t use profanity, that we don’t make fun of diseases.”

Asked afterward if KU wanted to stifle free speech, Marchiony responded, “Well, we believe in free speech — unless it crosses the line.”

If basketball is a secondary sport, then wrestling is coming in somewhere after hockey, cross-country and music theater.

It used to be that insane around here. Thankfully though, NU sucks now and it's not so bad.

That'll do it...

Bill Calahan is the best thing to ever happen to this state IMHO. Now that NU Fans have had a little bit of the old "Humble Pie" they are starting to realize that there are more things in life then the goddamn Cornhuskers.

I understand that old Jethro out in Valentine NE may be a little depressed about the program as of late, it's all they have out that way. But there's no excuse for that type of crap in the Metro area.

I'd go to a fricken grocery store and the game would be on.
Everyone in the office would always wear red on Fridays. If you chose not to wear red, you had to wear your normal business atire. One day a guy wore a Colorado jersey on Friday, he was sent home early.

Shit like that drives me insane. Suckers Husk and Vise Versa.
Yeah, it's a different world. I walked into a bar and grill when I was apartment searching and everyone was glued to local news coverage of a Callahan press conference that wasn't all that important (end of Sept/beg of Oct). When they hired what's his face from LSU they had something scrolling at the bottom of the TV for the entire... freakin... Chiefs game.

But, I work for a company that's so diverse, it's actually hard to find people that want to talk college football or basketball. I actually hear more soccer talk than Cornhusker talk..... Not sure if that's good or bad.

Before they won the NC it was simply "I don't follow basketball, never liked it, etc"... now it's a secondary sport, no one cares, it's the same as a NC in women's golf, etc. And it's coming from a baseball fan. Hilarious.

Hey, if I came from a state with no professional sports, I guess I'd think college basketball was the shit. Or maybe I'd just shoot myself. But either way, it'll never mean a damn thing to me. And as far as I'm concerned, all the hype over the tournament is just the sports equivalent of a Hallmark holiday. I like what I like, not what ESPN attempts to force-feed me.

I'm not saying you should like it. Hell, I can't stand the NBA. ESPN's coverage of international soccer (well, any soccer) is force-fed hype. ESPN's coverage of CBB matches the level of interest that's shown by having the last 7 games of the postseason played in football stadiums. You don't have to like it, but saying CBB is a secondary sport is ridiculous.

You know the one that irritates me most? The world series of poker. Who wants to watch other guys sit around and play cards. And it's not a sport.

That has nothing to do with anything, just thought I'd throw it out there.

I view soccer and basketball about the same, actually. One man's wondersport is another's force-fed hype, I guess.

That's the perfect example I was looking for... I know people who play poker now that didn't a few years ago, but I don't know one person who watches it.

Soccer is boring to me, but I'd at least qualify it as a sport. The thing I don't understand is why you play 100 minutes so you can have a goal-kicking contest at the end. One hundred percent of the games I've ever watched have ended in penalty kicks.

Golf, Horse Racing, and WSoP are the three that annoy me.... Golf really annoys me because it's boring as hell and not a sport, but it's also popular so it drives the coverage up to intolerable levels. Sorry, but Tiger Woods isn't an athlete. He hits a ball with a stick and then walks after it. Athletes play golf in the offseason so they can relax outside.

Why play 37 minutes of basketball to have a slap fest at the end? Because 90% of BBall games come down to that.

That's why I can't watch the NBA. The first 40-45 minutes of an NBA game somewhat resembles basketball, but especially in the last few minutes it's about everything except basketball..... drawing fouls, shooting free throws, flopping, calling timeouts.

It's annoying when CBB turns into that, and it's why I hate guys like Tyler Hansbrough who try to turn games into a free throw shooting and flopping contests, but it doesn't happen anywhere close to 90% of the time, IMO. Even if it did happen that often, at least the first 37 minutes were worth watching.

I'd guess it does happen close to 90% of the games during The Dance. Not so much during the regular season.
