Dee Ford
How about this guy? He looked good, at least in the 2nd half at least.

Dude looked bad as a pass rusher in the first half, but he heated up as the game went on.

2 tackles, 1 sack, 1 QB hit, 1 TFL and another pressure in the 2nd half.

Hopefully he builds off of this bc he looked like a good player out there. He bent his body and turned that edge quickly on the sack. He finished the play which is something he didn't do last year.

5 sacks in 7 games started in his career. Maybe he's not a bust?

Yeah, Ford did a lot better than expected, definitely showed better than he did during the Pre-Season. Zombo was a turd though.

The Interior DL needs to step it up.

He had the tip, that was about it. He gave up a TD and a long pass play because he didn't drop deep enough into his zone.

He was horrible.

Like I said, his name came up because he was going full Maslowski and jumping on piles and/or dragging guys down well past the line. If he wasn't our worse linebacker, it's only because the competition was so fierce.

Honestly, Dee Ford was the only guy out there on a lot of plays that didn't completely step on his dick. I have no idea how anyone could've watched that game and chosen Ford to direct your ire. Poe, Howard, Bailey, March, DJ, Zombo, Parker and Peters were all definitely worse than him. Berry was in the first half as well.

Shit, you can make an argument that Ford was our best, most consistent defensive player in that game. It would be damning with faint praise, but it's makeable.

The defense sucked shit.

One thing I've seen from watching this game is the same thing I saw from Carolina when they played Denver: 3 step drops and quick throws are the best plays for pass rushing teams.

Speed rushers like Von and Ford take advantage of the QB taking 5/7 step drops. Both QB's took a lot of 3 step drops and released the ball very quickly.

Which is why it is absolutely vital for the down lineman to do their jobs.

If you get one early stop - that's really all it takes - you put them behind the sticks and those 3 step drops become much more difficult to utilize exclusively.

The problem was that the Chargers could count on 5/6 yards on first down and dink/dunk their way from their.

Most pass-rushers make their money on third downs anyway and the only way you really give them a chance to eat is if you force teams into nasty 3rd down spots; really 3rd and 7 or worse. Or, as was the case Sunday, a hurry up situation like the Chargers were in.

I've read and heard quotes from several guys, including Schwartz, saying they just came out flat and uninspired.

There are a lot of good leaders on this team. Andy is also pretty good and keeping them fighting. Strange that yet again they had a lackluster start to begin the first game at home.

I just came to a realization that Dee Ford is on pace for 16 sacks .

Possible Chiefs Defensive player of the year.

Nobody else on the team is on pace for more than zero. Thats a big spread.
