The 49ers have expressed to others that a deal for QB Alex Smith is effectively DONE

The 49ers have expressed to others that a deal for QB Alex Smith is effectively complete. Can't be finalized til league year begins 3/12

Jason La Canfora ‏@JasonLaCanfora

so it's not official, both clubs view it at as it's effectively done. I do not know the other team. KC and JAX are 2 teams that make sense

Yeah, don't take anything here personal. The Chiefs haven't drafted and/or developed their own QB in 30 years. Sorry for the lashing you are getting, but it is what it is.

In a normal situation I would appreciate your review on Alex Smith. Thing is, the Chiefs QB situation is anything but normal. It's as personal as something in sports gets for me. Most of this fan base has no clue. CP has to make up for that, and we do, sometimes to a fault. I honestly didn't read your review on Alex Smith, and it's nothing personal. I just don't want the kid. I am not interested in having to build a roster to protect a QB. The QB should be the one helping us cover issues.

I have no idea what Geno will actually be. I happen to see a ceiling higher than most of the experts do. The truth though, I don't really care about his floor. I am not interested in taking the safe QB, give me the risk. Give me the guy who posses a potential(no matter the risk) over a guy who to me has shown he will never be "that" guy.

Do you think Alex Smith can win a SB without a fantastic roster around him? I don't. We have seen this story play out over and over again.

" Derp, hey guys having a tiny penis really isnt that bad, ...I mean Im not trying to convince you, but REALLY....you learn to live with it..."
In all honesty...

I like Alex. I wish he'd stay in SF as a backup.

However if my team had aquired a player I didn't know a ton about I'd appreciate it if a fan of the team he played for tried to give an honest evaluation of him.

Instead, you have mostly been idiots.

No worries....it's your forum.

Alex Smith cost his team a trip to the Championship. Not the muffs.

You go 1-14 on 3rd down, you failed as a QB.

In his current situation he knew that eventually he would get his shot again. That taking the high road would be wise. If he gets traded to a team and is a backup again, it's completely different. Now he has moved on and is still not the starter. I don't think you can assume he would be cool being a backup here like he was in SF. Two different mindsets.

Alex Smith brings memories of Cassel and the Patriot fans coming here and telling us how lucky we were to have him. I hope he stays in SF too. I don't want him anywhere near KC

This is exactly the fanbase to peddle this off to. It's just not the right portion of the fanbase.

Dude, no offense.

But 7 years ago, we had Jets fans coming here and telling us how much the sympathize because we were getting Herm. They wanted to tell us all about "what we were getting" and how they felt sorry for us.

4 years ago, it was Pioli and Cassel and how lucky we are to be getting them because they were part of the greatest team ever assembled.

You're in the wrong place and this is the wrong time.

We've been through this dog and pony show before.

Just saying they are out for blood. Sit back and enjoy the madness. It is much funnier that way. I want Geno. But if this brain trust thinks this is the way to go. They have a few years no more. But I want that next Tom Brady and Super Bowls.
