I doubt it will happen consistently in the Valley. We can't pay coaches at your level, especially now that JQH is gone. Our president also has a strange fixation with football, which has never had widespread fan/alumni/university support.

Indiana State is clearly better. I still think the big payoff must happen next year for Lusk to keep his job, but there's such a gaping hole at center that I doubt the Bears would be a serious conference threat anyway. There's no heat left in the fan base, everyone has just accepted the current state of affairs.

McCullough isn't enough. He's alright, but he can't go it alone. Lusk doesn't seem too interested in finding another 5, which may be his downfall. I also wonder who is going to take a leadership role after Pickens leaves.

I think I've already said that Tyler was a student of mine in high school. I don't know if he has the physical tools or not (though he was starting to beef up pretty good in high school by his senior year), but his worth ethic and intelligence shouldn't be questioned if his past is any indication. Just a really great kid.

One of my favorite stories about him:

It was senior skip day a couple of days after we'd just lost in the state tournament. They'd just had an extremely long season with a demoralizing loss in what should/could have been a state championship team. I go down to the gym at the end of the day, and he and Manny Watkins are out on the court with the underclassmen, still practicing and putting in work... on SENIOR SKIP DAY.

McCullough was a true freshman who was put in a very tough spot. He was supposed to get help from Christian Kirk and Bruce Marshall - didn't happen. I thought he played well considering that - his 52.4 fg% is impressive considering how he was the default option down low, and he averaged a block a game, showing he has defensive chops.
