Yeah he did play that badly in both of them. I like him but Jesus it's ridiculous that even in bad games the spin is knowmo-esque.

Look at the arguments AGAINST Geno. The spin is a reaction. It may not be right but it is what it is. The pro-Geno crowd has spent 4 months listening to shit like comparisons to Vince Young and Aaron Brooks. And when that stupid shot gets played out, BlackBob starts another mult account and starts it up again. You want to see the Geno fans be more realistic? Find a way to get the reeruns to go the **** away. |

I haven't seen much of those comparisons at all. When you say he had a bad bowl game, Sacconothing, and a few others want to jump out of their skin with a laundry list of excuses. I'm not a Geno hater. I think he should be the pick. But those painting him as this can't miss, flawless prospect, and want to re-create the bad game matrix are ****ing stupid. I'm not including you in this.

I digress,... If with the incomplete info that we have right now on these QBs, a gun was held to my head and I was told to only pick a QB with the top pick of the draft now, that pick would be Geno Smith. All the while crossing my fingers tightly on one hand and holding my nose with the other. You are a good poster here, and you don't have to agree with me to hold my respect. That said, I think your post here in itself is an inadvertent spin to justify the attitude of the Geno groupies. Most of the older ones were this way about Brady Quinn when HE was coming up on draft too. They all resorted to name calling every time anyone posted an anti Quinn post. I was firmly anti-Quinn then and took profane salvos for it. I'm not Geno-or-bust now and I'm still taking them. WTF?!!! |

The TT game, they did an outstanding job of taking away his deep receivers and keeping everything in front of them. It was the one game in which he felt the pressure to push the ball to make things happen, which led to a couple of bad decisions. Overall, though, it wasn't a terrible game by Smith, while Holgerson and staff did absolutely nothing to adjust the game plan to counter Tech's strategy in that game.

What I love about him though is his size, arm, and his willingness to stand in the pocket and deliver a strike. I believe it was you who pointed out he's always looking down field which would certainly be a change from our QB's the last several years. |

He put that team on his shoulders and almost singlehandedly carried them to wins, to competing in losses, and to a Bowl game.

Tech had a great defensive plan. They got up a couple scores early (due to the terrible WV defense), and then just sat back and took away the deep ball so that WV couldn't get back in the game quick. Holgerson was outcoached. K-State took what Tech gave them and did it as well, although K-State was just a much much much better overall team. |

I would hope everyone would agree that at least taking a chance on Geno, resigning Albert, and having the 2nd pick to fill another hole is a much better scenerio than taking this Jekyll dude, letting Albert walk, and grabbing the 4th or 5th best QB option in round 2.

In a year with a supposedly "weak" QB class, Taking anything less than the best is foolish. Re sign Albert, draft a QB, fill holes thru FA and remaining picks.

Basically I look at it this way with his three worst games. Two of those three came in bad weather and it wasn't like he was horrible in those two. At Tech he was fighting a HORRIBLE wind and of course in the bowl game it was really cold and snowy. The only game that outside elements weren't a issue was the Kansas State game. He just pure and simple did not perform well against the Cats but then again KSU was no push-over as we all know. Outside of those three games he performed very well.
