Ah, the most popular driver award. Given annually to the biggest name also-ran. Dale Jr. knows that award real well too.

Awesome Bill from Dawsonville was my favorite driver as a kid. Too bad he is an enormous jerk.

Strange he was wildly popular among the people around me at that time. Dale Sr would have been a better example as in his last years he became more popular. His death sent his popularity to unreal levels. He certainly had a very solid fan base myself one of them. Oh I understand what is being said. However in this format it is going to get ugly. They compare it to other sports as a playoff. The huge difference is one team in other sports cannot run the other teams bus off the road and go on to claim victory. It is exciting however it is turning into a Jerry Springer episode every week. Rivalries are needed in all sports. The white hat and the black hat. That said when you can simply take someone out of one race and eliminate them from contention the sport may end up with nothing but black hats. I would hate to see it become roller derby. I am a longtime fan and will keep watching (I am a Raiders fan for ****ssake so yeah I am tested)

I'm excited about some of the young drivers and like Chase Elliott a lot. Larson, The Dillion boys, Lagano along with Keselowski and others shows the sport has a bright future. That said NASCAR has been chasing ratings and in recent years has alienated some of the core fan base. This new format has created interest. I just hope it doesn't turn the sport into wrestling where the wrecking and post race fights become the focus~

I actually felt a little bad for Kyle today. He just dominated and walked away from everybody all day long, then the late caution, Keselowski beat him into turn 1 on the last GWC lap (cleanly, rather surprisingly) and that was all she wrote.

But then I got over it and laughed.

Kyle still had a better day than his big brother, though...
