Pleasantly surprised by this. I figured Matheny would start him for sure.

Pitching Miller in Game 4 makes sense to me. He'll either get Greinke on short rest or Dick Nolasco. He's not the mental midget that Lynn is, so that looks to be a game where we would have a pitching advantage on paper. It doesn't always hold up, but that's important. Look at the last series

On paper:

Waino > Burnett
Lynn < Cole
Kelly < Liriano
Wacha > Morton
Waino > Cole

With the way these pitching matchups stack, I wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't a home win until Game 5 or 6.

The Dodgers can crow about Greinke and Kershaw all they want. Outside of that they have nothing. I like Kelly against Greinke and let's not forget the Cardinals beat Kershaw twice this year. I hope Kershaw is off after having his normal schedule upset. Greinke hasn't gone over six innings since Sept 1.

Uh...what?

Hanley's been the best player in the NL this season when on the field. Puig's pretty outstanding. Gonzalez isn't what he was 5 years ago, but he's still a very very good player. Etheir may/may not be healthy but if he is he's a guy that hits RHP very hard and we have no LHSP. Even Crawford's become a useful player again. They also have the best closer in baseball and some nice setup pieces in front of him.

The Dodgers are a damn good baseball team.

our top 3 starters were top 10 in ERA. Ryu had a rough first time but dudes a rookie coming from ****ing Korea where they said 85 percent of Korea was watching. It happens, He should settle down now that he's had a start in the post season. We were the number 2 era in the NL for a reason, they are good pitchers. ONly team better was the Braves n they are goners.

Let everyone think the Dodgers have nothing though. Either is coming back as well, so thats a huge plus, Skip sucks bad. lol

The Dodgers are the best NL team the Cardinals have faced this century. I can't think of one better. They terrify me. The 2006 Mets team we thought would make mincemeat of the Cardinals had six fewer WAR.

He didnt get pulled early because he was pitching bad, he got pulled early, so they can save his ass for the post season. The Dodgers were so far ahead, that why keep him in there? in them starts he didnt give up more then 2 runs and hasnt given up more then 3 runs in like 3 months.

One thing Donnie did with almost everyone is give them alot of days off once they built that lead to like 13 games. they would play 2 games n get a game or 2 off. He did that for alot of the team

The Pirates are a classy team with that little Sports Center bit.

Good for them - Clint seems to be pretty mellow. He was a pretty good Royal too . Go Big Blue Bus!

It's really going to hurt that we had to pitch Wainwright last night. I fear that may be the difference if we lose. The kiddies are really going to have to step up.

Rany: Also not a Braves fan:

Quote:
The Los Angeles Dodgers did America a favor this week by dispatching the Atlanta Braves in four games. At some point this season, the Braves reached the conclusion that they were the Knights Templar of baseball's sacred Unwritten Rules. This led to a brawl when Miami pitcher Jose Fernandez made the unforgivable mistake of enjoying his first career home run, and another when Milwaukee's Carlos Gomez took a leisurely stroll around the bases after a home run against Paul Maholm, who'd plunked Gomez earlier in the season.

But absolute power to enforce the Unwritten Rules corrupts absolutely, which is how it came to pass that before Game 1 of the NLDS, Chipper Jones threw out the first pitch to the mascot, because no Brave would catch Jones's toss after the future Hall of Famer had the audacity to predict on the radio that the Braves would lose the NLDS in four games. In their zeal for baseball purity, the Braves overlooked one of the Unwritten Rules of common sense: You don't snub a franchise legend over petty bullshit. And now few people, least of all their franchise legend, are shedding tears over the Braves losing the NLDS. In four games. The only shame is that the Dodgers didn't clinch in Atlanta, which would have allowed them to dig a hole in the ground in center field, fill it with water, and jump in.
Seriously - **** the Braves.

And they're potentially without their best player.

Wow. Just... that's unbelievable. Chipper Jones is basically the modern George Brett. If the Royals players ever did something like this to him people in Kansas City would be calling for their ****ing heads.

The really shocking thing about this is Brian McCann. Grew up idolizing the guy, then became his teammate for years, and as their catcher he was enough of a bitch not to go out and catch that pitch? Pathetic.

The speed at which I came to hate these guys is astonishing.

I've not disliked an individual group of players more since the 2003 Cubs.
