Seems like this deserves its own thread. The news will start coming fast over the next week or two, IMO. Recruiting is a 365-day event and we can't afford to be rudderless for long.

He's an awful hire. There is nothing, absolutely nothing he did at UM to stand out to the point to get a raise and a promotion in programs.

Sorry, but I'm not convinced that you know much of anything about the guy other than what you've read/heard over the past 12 hours. You may follow the ACC, but nobody follows Miami basketball. Not even people in Miami.

It will be interesting to see the new direction and see if better resources can help Haith get his program going. Besides that...sports are to be enjoyed. JFC some if you went full emo/livejournal on this. lol.

So you're generalizing again because you perceive that no one follows Miami basketball? So to gain a full understanding of Haith, one would have had to watch every single Miami game and be a diehard fan?

As a life long Mizzou fan, I can confidently say that the faithful really, really, REALLY Haith this hire.

I think choosing Danny Manning would have been less controversial.

No offense but, it's just that I've seen you emote and over-react here before so you have a track record. I'm skeptical about your knowledge on this point, that's all. If someone with a more level head, like cdcox for example, came around and claimed to be an ACC fan who knew something about Haith, I'd pay it more heed.

It's a ****ing horrible hire. It's completely indefensible. The only people who would even make the attempt to defend such a hire are the halcyon of douchebags.

If you're promoting someone to run a huge chunk of your company, you don't promote a middle manager who did a terrible job.

As a fan of Mizzou, I've come to accept that this Haith thing is going to happen. Afterall, nothing ever works out well for the Tigers.

But the upshot is that Alden has pissed off some major boosters with this hire and has the BOC riled up as hell. I think he gets his coach tonight, but I also think he gets an ultimatum: This is your guy - he makes no sense on any level. So if you're that sold on him you're trying your wagon to him. The last guy got us to the Elite 8, so did the one before that and the one before that. If this guy doesn't have us in the Final 4 in the same 5 year period, you leave with him.

And that's probably the best we can hope for as Tigers fans. Alden's signed his own death warrant with this hire.
