Tell me about your eyeballs.

Well, eyeball accessories, I guess. I'm wondering about eyewear.

There's a lot of power in looking at someone over the top of your glasses. It's the best thing about gettng older.

For five years now I have used non corrective bifocals for reading and taking in near objects. Before that I used none. My wife is a neonatologist and has had correcting lenses for her adult life. But it became a hassle to have focused vision first at computer reading distance, then to paper reading output, then to procedures. Trifocals and progressive lenses left her looking for that part of her glasses that worked for a specific task and still had one craning ones head.

So two years ago I made her buy Supervision glasses. They are focal length adjustable lenses that carry your prescription for correcting your aberration in seeing. In other words you get your vision corrected for near or far sighted and/or stigmatism and such. And on top of that there is an adjustable focal length lens. The result is ALL of your field of view is adjusted to meet your need. Accomodation is done manually so you do dial in your need.

I am saving up to get a pair. But I am practicing taking care of the glasses I have, not being use to glasses, before I buy a pricy pair.

My eyes are Awesomely gorgeous and equally non-Awesomely non-functional. I wear contacts during the day and once I'm "in for the night" I sport some stylish frames.

When I was in jr. high, I accidentally poked myself in the eyeball with an ice pick, while trying to get a knot out of a strap on my backpack. Blood was oozing out of the white part of my eyeball right under the iris. I had to go in for emergency surgery, and have internal and external stitches on my eye. Had to wear a patch for several months.

Kept my vision, by some crazy stroke of luck. Just a millimeter or so in a different location, and I would have lost my eye. I still have floaters and squigglies in my vision because of some fluid on my lens, but I consider myself fortunate. Depth perception FTW!

Maybe you poked yourself in the eye with an ice pick and didn't notice.

My recommendation for OTC eye drops: Systane. Just dropped 15 bones on a two pack of Systane Balance (with a $4 off coupon), but it's worth it.

Glasses needed for reading now, but distant vision is still good. I got bifocals so I don't have to keep taking the damn things on and off.
