No, you and the other dumbass 9er fan made a stupid statement crediting Charles new found running success to Alexander Smith when actually there isn't any new found running success. I called you on it and now you are scrambling to not look stupid.

This is shit you don't know when you've only been following your new other favorite team for several months.

... and you are taking a simple obvious football fact and twisting into whatever you want... all for the glory of a pat on the head by the newly obnoxious 2 fans that are inundating the board (OTW and htismaqe).

Get you your good boy pat.

No....we're bringing facts to the table while the two of you (JENKINSWINS) keep changing what you're saying so that it helps your argument. Unfortunately, you keep looking more and more reeruned as the conversation progresses.

Don't bother.

And with the new CBA, you'd actually be paying a newly drafted, elite QB much, much less for more a much bigger payoff down the road.

I'd rather pay $20M a year for an elite QB than .50 on the dollar for "good enough" - but that's just me.

But again, my concern is that if we extend him, we never try to improve at the position. Scrub late round/UDFA lottery tickets aren't going to cut it.
It depends.

Would I rather have Aaron Rodgers than Alex Smith and extend Justin Houston? Sure.

Would I rather have Tony Romo/Eli Manning/Joe Flacco than Alex Smith and Justin Houston? Nope.

And those teams are all paying $20 millionish for those guys.

An oft overlooked facet of the discussion that cdcox and myself brought up a few days ago.

If you look at recent Super Bowl history, guys aren't winning Super Bowls AFTER they get the big contracts. Those contracts are preventing the building of a complete team.

I care about the money.

There are only three QBs in the league that are worth paying $20M for--Brady and the guy over there in Denver, and maybe Drew Brees.

Look at the teams right with over 10 wins right now. It's these 3--surefire hall of famers--or good/decent QB's on their rookie contracts (Cam, Wilson, Kaepernick). And Alex Smith.

I don't think you can field a dominant team right now sinking $20 mil into a player who isn't consistently top 3. And it is really hard to get that kind of player.

So there are really only two options:
(1) blow up the team and Suck for Luck. This is risky still because you can suck for years and still not get the guy you are looking for. I mean if you think about, this was pretty much the failing strategy of 3/4 AFC west teams for the past decade.
(2) underpay a serviceable vet like Alex Smith and hope you can identify/develop talent in the last 1st round / 2nd round. This is pretty much what Seattle and San Francisco did.

We are going with option 2 and it's a formula we've seen work out.

So do you still want to stick to "Alex makes Charles a better runner"? Or do you want a mulligan on that one?

You 9ers guys try WAY too hard to put Alex over on everything. I'm pretty sure if someone said the grass on the field looked greener you would try to find a way to credit Alex for that.

I swear I think some of you are on the Chiefs payroll.

How is Seattle and San Francisco following path #2? They drafted a QB and lucked into the rookie contract.

You're seeing the end game.

But at the beginning of last year, Seattle had brought in Matt Flynn and San Francisco was fielding... Alex Smith.

San Fran made it to the conference finals, could have made it to the SB. Seattle should have been at least a 2nd round playoff team.

If Alex Smith won us two Super Bowls like Eli or one like Flacco, I wouldn't give a shit if we gave him the 20 million dollar contract.

No more twisting from you... be serious and blunt.

Do quarterbacks assist their offensive personnel by reading defenses pre-snap and adjusting/changing the play to better suit what they see? Yes or No.
