Desperate drafting is not astute drafting. If after the combine it is clear that Geno is only the 12th best draft prospect, we better seriously see if we could trade down at least to 7 to get him and get some extra benefits. And we better have done our homework on the 2nd and 3rd best QB prospects, just in case some desperate fool takes Geno at 6. |

The NFL is a QB driven league. Better to swing big and miss than to puss out and take a called strike 29. |

You would be good taking him at #7 if he graded out as the 12th best but the team that took him at #6 would be a desperate fool? |

Same thing with Smith. (not bashing Lewis btw, he's about as close as any ILB I've ever seen to sway my opinion on this) |

How can one say Smith is not worthy of #1 but perhaps #7 or #12? With the new rookie contracts, I do not see the huge gamble as some would reference. We have our future LT already in the present. No position on the field would increase the chances of the Chiefs winning more than nailing it at QB. Smith may fail, but I would rather try that then have a prospect at LT protecting someone else..... |

If he is the top rated QB and rated 12th overall then, yes screw the damn rankings. I don't get how it is a reach if the top QB is rated in the top 15 overall(by frankie mind you) and you take him at #1. Would you call Big Ben a reach at #2 instead of drafting him at #11. I bet the Raiders wish they had taken a QB at #2 in that draft instead of a LT. |

Don't bring up Carr. He didn't bust because of lack of talent. He busted because the offensive line never gave him more than 2 seconds.

We've seen other QB's chosen early that found success on their second and third teams like Steve Young, Doug Williams and Jim Plunkett. Not to mention "lessor" talents like Rich Gannon, Brad Johnson, Steve DeBerg, etc. and so on. The bottom line is that talent evaluators and Casserly ****ed up. |
