http://www.boxofficemojo.com/yearly/...ldwide&yr=2017 Theres a movie called Wolf Warrior2 thats made $870 million this year and no one in the USA has even heard of it. More than GOTG2, WW, Thor, Pirates etc. The American market is not irrelevant but its not the driver of the box office anymore. Almost all films make more money overseas than in the USA.

I think the problem is nobody cares about Cyborg, Aquaman, or this new version of the Flash. The main villain isn't very interesting either. Plus they just did it too soon. I'm sure they discussed it and wanted to just get a JL movie done now before the superhero craze dies off, but they should've waited a bit. Hell there hasn't even been a solo Batman movie in this universe yet.

The movie would have been a little better if they had increased it to 2 and a half hours and put in some more character build up.
The villian was the epitome of meh though. There wasn't one time where I thought that he was super powerful or a huge threat. |

The problem is that D.C. just hasn't executed things very well. They were given a lay up and have completely botched it thus far. |

They've tried twice to crack that nut and can't do it, nor will they license an entire solo Hulk movie to Marvel/Disney. |

Focusing on that second paragraph -- can I ask why? If they own the rights, and have tried twice and failed, why not license or sell back and get some $$$? Obviously Marvel knows WTF they are doing with these franchises... I'd rather get $$$ than just fail over and over and get nothing.

They tried their own "In Universe" this past summer, beginning with The Mummy, which didn't draw enough interest to continue with their "Dark Universe", so it's been all but officially cancelled. Also, Universal is very, very insular, though not quite as insular as Paramount. Uni has enough success with their other properties that jumping back into the Superhero genre, which will likely fail, especially if you read these types of threads. The bottom line is that it doesn't make any financial sense. |

The problem is that they've botched nearly all movies thus far, thus no one cared when JL came out. If it was their first flick like they originally planned (before Avengers, different cast, etc), it would have been a hit.
Regardless, it was a good movie. Not spectacular, but not the colossal travesty everyone wants it to be. It's a step in the right direction (away from the Snyder-verse). |

This movie isn't going to lose a penny and it's going to make a shit ton in VOD, DVD/Blu Ray and Digital sales, in addition to Red Box. It seems like it's become a hobby for some of you idiots to constantly bash films and their earnings. Dumb. |

But that's only because WB has earned it The D.C movies for the most part are total shit. The movie cost over 300m to make and an extra 100m on marketing it's on pace to be the lowest earner for a D.C verse movie $650m that would put it under man of steel which made $668m How can you not be laughing at this ? |

It's not seen as a huge success, did not meet expectations, and completely tanked by the pundits. So yes, comparative to standards set by rival/related movies, no one cared.
