If he is traded, he has no choice and he has shown that he is a good teamamte under shitty circumstances. As an FA, he has mor power, but traded. Not so much.
please tell me you arent that naive.

im sure harbaugh will say what an asshole he is, if that was the case, right before they would try to trade him.

You are assuming things. based on your feelings about the matter. If he was a problem, they wouldnt say anything, or barely anything anyways. there hasnt been one story out of SF this yea about a problem with Smith. It would of come out by now.

Smith said ALL LAST SUMMER that he wasn't happy. And he was still technically the starter at that time.

Well guess what? We dont have control. If Smith is a bad egg, then our FO should be able to sniff it out. If he is a serviceable guy according to the powers that be that have proven themselves to know more than you and I, then he will be here if available, more than likely. You and I going back and forth about who is a better back up option doenst matter.

Im personally getting mentally prepared for us getting Smith via trade because we need a serviceable guy to be our QB and mentor for rookie QB coming. Whether he starts or not I dont know, neither do you.

BTW, I love how everyone points out the way past instead of what is currently going on. What have you done for me lately doenst apply in this case apparently.

What have you done for me lately absolutely DOES apply.

People want to bring Alex Smith in here to "mentor" a draft pick and ultimately be a backup?

Well guess what? Recent NFL history suggests that's a complete fantasy. Recent Chiefs history is even more definitive.

If they bring in Smith, he WILL start. Bank on it.

Yep. If they bring him in, you can forget about a quarterback being drafted anywhere above the middle rounds. With Alex Smith, we won't be talking about Geno Smith anymore, or Tyler Wilson, or Matt Barkley, or even (thank god) Brock Glennon. We'll be talking - at best - about Landry Jones or Zac Dysert or Ryan Nassib (and this is assuming they aren't all overdrafted in the 2nd or 3rd), or more likely a late round flyer on somebody like Matt Scott. If they don't just eschew a draft pick altogether and stick with who we already have signed, whether that's Cassel or Stanzi or Tanney.

Again, the article says the Chiefs are one of the teams interested in Smith. Not me. It was the article.

The decision to aquire Alex Smith may need to be made before the draft, so if we do aquire Smith for a 4th or 5th, I am fine with it...

provided we still give due dilegence to Geno Smith. And if we deem that he is worthy of the #1 overall pick then you roll with it and draft Geno #1 as well.

Fantasy? Maybe. IMO, it doesn't have to be one or the other.

Absolutely. This is like when people thought they'd take Sanchez even after dealing for Cassel. Kiss a 1st round QB goodbye if we sign this retread.

Not sure where to post this...

NFL salaries by team and position - In addition, team breakdowns on offense, defense and special teams. Also, scroll over the circles:

Call me a happy camper if the Chiefs open the season with these 3 guys on their roster:

Alex Smith
Geno Smith
Chase Daniel
