Chiefs' Matt Cassel Goes On NFL Network
http://www.arrowheadpride.com/2011/1...work#storyjump
Kansas City Chiefs QB Matt Cassel was on Around The League with Fran Charles on NFL Network yesterday talking about the 2-3 Chiefs. Nothing earth shattering in the interview as the usual stuff was hit on: questions about the win at Indy, Dwayne Bowe's play and, of course, the "argument" with Todd Haley (or, as I like to call it, the story that will never die). Cassel also claims he's undefeated in bags, the game they play in the locker room. Below are some highlights of what he said. View the video here. Star-divide On the comeback win at Indy: "It was something that, since I've been here, we haven't responded the way that we did, and to come back from a 17-point deficit, and to continue to grind and overcome the adversity, and walk out of Indy with a win, it was big for this time." On Dwayne Bowe: "I trust him and we also have other guys making plays as well. Steve Breaston's come in and complemented Dwayne really well this year. It's great to have that tandem." On the slow start: "We were trying to find the reasons for why we didn't start the way we didn't want to. Going into the season, we thought we were ready to go and it just didn't work out." More on the slow start: "One of the main problems early on were turnovers. We were able to eliminate turnovers and you see the result, we're in every game." On the injuries: "That's the same way that I got my start when Tom Brady went down and things went the way that it did. Nobody gave us a chance in New England and I was able to step up and prove myself." On the bags game: "I'm pretty good, I'm not gonna lie. I haven't lost yet. I keep giving the receivers chances, letting them get up early, and then I come back and dominate." |

Exactly.
if he can carve up the Raiders defense week after next i might cut him some slack.. this win was against a lame beat up pass defense in Indy.

Isn't the stat till true... that the Chiefs haven't beaten a team that had a winning record at the time they played, since 2009..?

No doubt, and this is one time where it is nice to be in B1G country.
Most of them know him from raping their school's team at one time or another. He commands a lot of respect around here. Now, if they would just set Cassel and let him play. Hopefully that is coming soon. |

I hear ya, and there is a lot of disagreement on that subject.
Do they sour on the bench, or do they learn? Lots of examples of both. Do they get damaged being thrown in the fire right away, or do they learn? Lots of examples of both. I personally can't wait, and think he has sat long enough. WTF is he going to learn from Cassel? How to shit your pants? How to check down prior to looking at your reads? How to stare down your primary receiver? How to hold the ball too long prior to going fetal? I know, it is not just Cassel he is learning from, but he is the one setting the example. I haven't seen him play much, but what I did see was a guy with natural talent and pocket awareness that Cassel doesn't have. |

absolutely
In less than one full game (combined) of action, he has shown far more in every single category a passer is responsible for than Cassel has in 3 1/2 seasons as a starter. |

On the slow start: "We were trying to find the reasons for why we didn't start the way we didn't want to. Going into the season, we thought we were ready to go and it just didn't work out."
The preseason "plan" was a bad one... The end.

What is the worst possible outcome that could happen for this franchise? Cassel plays at that mediocre level with the injury excuse which will entrench him for another year.
What always happens to this franchise? The worst possible outcome. Thus, what will happen with Cassel? It's a pretty clear logical syllogism.

Herm at least brought forth the prospect of the organization bottoming out, getting fired, and bringing in young talent.
Hell, 90% of the worthwhile talent we have on this team is because of Herm. Herm was hitting rock bottom. This regime has been a series of trips to rehab ended after two days because you can't kick the smack (Cassel) and you keep believing that a 12 step program (The Patriot Way) will plug and fix your problems.
