My garbage disposal died...
It was an Emerson that I installed in the mid 90s. I got more than I expected out of it. Emerson no longer sells garbage disposals with the Emerson name as far as I can tell. They are all Insinkerators (sp?) now. They're proud of those, for sure.
So, I bought a Waste King. It's all stainless steel where it matters and has a 5-year warranty (compared to Insink... that has a 2-year warranty). The warranty is a new replacement if it fails. Anyone have a history with Waste King disposals? |

I installed this one two years ago. No problems and plenty powerful.

I can't remember what I paid, but it sure wasn't $130.
I think I got it on sale for around $100. |

Waste King is the inferior product to Insinkerator. That said, I have a Waste King in my kitchen. I paid $40 at an auction for a brand new $300 shrouded version of their product. It runs well and is quiet but it's definitely not as good as Insinkerator's grand-daddy product for the same price.

ISE is industry standard. That typically means that it performs better than the rest in the long run. You may have good luck with an off brand like waste king, but the pros like to stick with what works best

I put in an Insinkerator almost two years ago. The warranty is 6, including in home service. Waste King is better than that? Mind you the one I bought was around $200, which I realize isn't cheap.
