Sam's Town - Excellent Sophomore Effort
The Killers have struck again.
I bought it last night and am my 4th listen. Strange, listening to them reminds me of wine afficionados, the way they mull it around their mouths and pick up hints of flavors and scents. There's been definite attention paid to the near perfect meld of drums and guitar developed by U2. I get hints of early Springsteen. There's that omnipresent undercurrent of 80s new wave. Whiffs of Midnight Oil and Black 47. Overall, it's just music that's fun, energizing, and makes you want to set your cruise control on 85 on a long stretch of highway on a sunny day. Any critic you see who is less than glowing is just snarking on the ego of the band itself, not soberly assessing the music on the disc. Last edited by Baby Lee; 10-07-2006 at 02:24 PM.. |
