Xbox 360 URGENT PSA

Have any of you purchased the Nyko Intercooler?

If so, REMOVE IT IMMEDIATELY and take it back or trade it in.

I bought one about 6 months ago and it seemed to work great. About 3 weeks ago, I started getting the ring of 3 red lights, and it started getting quite frequent.

I looked up the error on Xbox.com and found that the error is a power supply fault. I put two and two together and disconnected the Intercooler. The error has not happened since.

I talked to the kid at Gamestop and he told me he had heard of it, so I went to Gamestop.com and started reading reviews.

Not only was my issue COMMON, several reviewers reported PHYSICAL DAMAGE, including the Intercooler MELTING and becoming FUSED to the Xbox chassis. And to top it all off, Microsoft is telling users of the Intercooler that it's use voids the warranty.

My XBox has been freezing a lot more lately, and I was thinking of buying one of these.

I almost bought one of these, don't know if it's the Nyko one or not.

Mine is sitting upright in an open space, and I touch it pretty frequently after playing and it never feels hot. I've also got the bottom sitting on a couple of note pads so there's about a half inch of clearance on the underside and at least a foot on all the other sides. I think you're ok if you don't have it boxed inside an entertainment center or something.

I wish they would make the disc drive not sound like a jet engine on takeoff, though.

I've never heard of that, but I had heard it messes up the unit's built in fans. Looks like it really fugs your system up now too. I was thinking about buying one. Glad I didn't.

Yeah, there is alot of bad things about that intercooler. I have a newer xbox, and mines doesnt seem to run hot. In the summer though, i am going to have a house fan on it when i game.
