Rand Paul, amnesty's latest cheerleader

Sickening what happened to this man. Hopefully he gets primaried and gets tossed from DC, never to return again.

Rand Paul to Illegals: ‘We Will Find a Place for You;' Envisions 12 Million ‘New Taxpayers’

(CNSNews.com) - In his prepared text for a speech he is delivering today at the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference and Latino Partnership for Conservative Principles, Sen. Rand Paul (R.-Ky.) said to illegal aliens who want to live and work in the United States: “[W]e will find a place for you.”

Paul also said he envisions today’s illegal aliens becoming additional “taxpayers.”

“Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers,” said Paul.

Illegal aliens working in the United States today are not exempted from complying with the nation's tax laws anymore than they are exempted from complying with U.S. laws governing immigration or document fraud.

“First, everyone has to acknowledge that we aren’t going to deport 12 million illegal immigrants,” said Paul. “If you wish to work, if you wish to live and work in America, then we will find a place for you.

“In order to bring conservatives to this cause however, those who work for reform must understand that a real solution must ensure that our borders are secure,” said Paul. “But we also must treat those who are already here with understanding and compassion.”

The main problem, where the public were concerned when an immigration bill came up before with thousands of phone calls into the govt, was border security had to happen first then the other stuff could follow. Not the other way around. I am disappointed in Rand on this, since he has come right out and said he was not a Libertarian ( most don't support borders or at least for such things as work.)

Libertarians normally don't think things through. Paul (or others) might prefer a world without borders or a welfare state. The latter is going nowhere so it only makes sense to deal with the former as it really is. Not as you wish it to be. Since there is no way to dismantle - even slow down - the welfare state it is positively stupid to allow 12 million newbies onto the system.

We're putting 40 million onto the healthcare grid and conservatives rightfully understand the consequences. So why are they ok with putting millions onto the welfare grid?

That's just your opinion. They do, just using different criteria.

I doubt Paul is in either of those camps.

I agree, but I can't answer your question. It's for them to answer.

According to your link, Paul's plan does put border security first, via a "Trust but Verify" system. I just doubt that will still happen.

Whatever happened to ending birth right citizenship? Even his dad recommended that. Why not Rand?
He's just not ballsy enough on this issue regardless of deportation impracticalities.

Then take them off welfare or any other benefits from any govt program. If they do get hired they pay taxes without any welfare govt benefits as previously stated but also no driving licenses etc. They should be treated as much as possible like lawbreakers.

Unless they GUARANTEE that the border will be secured, have foolproof language in the bill and an entity that's accountable for enforcing, it won't get done, even if agreed upon. Hell, unless I'm mistaken the congress is constitutionally responsible for a budget every year and that hasn't happened for years...accountability is hard to come by these days, especially with a lapdog media.

Reagan took the dems word for border security back when; look what that got us.

Yes, I know. I am not saying that is good enough, just that he has included it. I didn't think he had it in that order previously, but afterwards.

Rand Paul, Marco Rubio, Paul Ryan, and Christie are now all on board with immigration reform. Its not shaping up to be much of an issue in the 2016 primaries. Who will be there to go for the anti-immigration vote?

Who said you have to do that? Romney's "self deport" comment got mocked by the lib media, but it's 110% true. If they don't have unlimited welfare benefits they won't stay. They stay because we offer them a far better deal than Mexico does.
