People who change their beliefs based on popularity never had true belief to begin with. Sorry Dave, I'm hanging in there as much as it hurts to know you don't approve.

First off, nobody cares what Milennials think. About anything. Second I will probably stipulate they don't like the teachings of the major religions (all major religions remember) on the topic but in America at least, I don't hear anyone saying gays should be persecuted. Even Pope Francis came out and said "Who am I to judge?". If this video commentator is correct, Milennials should be quite receptive to that and Catholicism should see a rise in Milennial membership. If not? They weren't receptive to religion in the first place.

I read a NYT article on Milennial defections and the gay issue is part of it, but most of the comments to the article revolved around young people being more concerned with the "Hell judgment" issue. Meaning they know atheists and Muslims and whoever and they don't like the idea they are condemned to eternal damnation if they don't follow Christianity.

Yeah, generally young people don't like rules. Having to face themselves and deal with their actions is often hard to digest...

So many churches are seeing a resurgence and new young membership. Its a blessing. We are so fortunate to know young families who have discovered the comfort and the love of the church family. Some who were dead inside like Dave who can testify to how Jesus came into their lives and brought them home to the church. Say Amen and praise the heavens. Daves wonderful talent of photography captures so much of Gods work and creation. You can see the hand of God guiding him even as he claims to not want to know God. Every day is a day closer to Dave loving Jesus in his heart. Grace will come to him.

I think it goes deeper than that. Young people are growing up in a multi-cultural multi-religious environment where they become friends with people who aren't like them. The idea their friend is going to Hell is troublesome to them and I can see that perspective. And the church will have to confront that.

Speaking of "rules" I think NOT posting something by "The Young Turks" would be one of mine if I wanted to maintain a certain level of credibility.

What if they're not changing it based on popularity but because they come to realize their beliefs were dumb?

I don't see why. They were the reason Obama won (he won 18-29 and lost 30+) and I still don't care what they think.

I think they are scarier as voters now; by thirty there's a chance they'll have grown up.
