What if ......
The Chiefs have been talking to the Houston Texans about acquiring Alex Smith. Houston's been making offers but the Chiefs keep saying "probably not". Houston keeps raising their offer but in reality, the Chiefs are just delaying the situation until Romo gets cut.

Romo gets cut, signs with Chiefs
Chiefs trade Alex Smith to Houston for draft pick(s)
Chiefs draft a QB to backup Romo and be the QBoTF
