Our final draft picker is a true son of Cleveland. Born in the city, he grew up in Cleveland and played high school football and basketball. In the first of his Forrest Gump existence, he teamed with Heisman Trophy winner Desmond Howard in his high school days.

From there, he went on to a storied career in college, leaving with his school's all time records in pass attempts, passing completions, passing yards, and touchdowns.

He entered the NFL, fought for a starting battle with a future Hall of Famer, and was in enough demand that he was signed by another team as a free agent and fought off a future NFL MVP for the starting job. There, he was a 4,000 yard passer, pro bowl selection, and led one of the greatest last-minute victory drives in Monday Night Football history. Not only that, but he looked good doing it, being named the sexiest athlete alive at one point.

After a long and storied career, he retired and returned to Cleveland, where he is currently the assistant coach for quarterbacks at a local high school.

You know him, you love him, and the Browns are proud to introduce our hometown boy, ELVIS GRBAC!

Elvis steps to the stage, scans the crowd, and immediately calls a time out. After going to the side of the stage, he is informed that he has no timeouts, so he returns.

"With the 6-188 pick in the 2017 NFL Annual Player Selection Process, the Cleveland Garfields select Travis Rudolph, WR, Florida State."

In the audience, Marty Schottenheimer is heard to approve.

With that selection, Cleveland packs up their stuff and goes home. With a bounty of 11 draft picks, Cleveland made at least one pick to bolster every position group other than special teams.

01. Myles Garrett, DE, Texas A&M
12. Mitchell Trubisky, QB, UNC
33. Budda Baker, FS, Washington
52. Pat Elflein, C, Ohio State
65. Ryan Anderson, OLB, Alabama
108. Samaje Perine, RB, Oklahoma
145. Jeremy Sprinkle, TE, Arkansas
175. Aviante Collins, OT, TCU
181. Ryan Glasgow, DT, Michigan
185. William Likely, CB, Maryland
188. Travis Rudolph, WR, Florida State

Incredible amount of talent in this draft class for Cleveland. Sam Rutigliano would be proud. The Browns will still find a way to screw up having 11 picks in this draft.

Whether it's my picks or their own, I could see Cleveland ending up with 5 or 6 opening-day starters from this draft.

For the most part, I tried to make my picks safe and conservative, figuring the odds would bring success with that many picks.

Dirty shame that you can lead the PAC-12 in sacks and tfl and go in round 6. Not to mention running a 4.69 and putting up 38 reps in the bench press at your pro day isn't enough to quiet critics... We'll take him and use him on 3rd down's initially to wreck the LOS in Gus Bradley's shiny new defense.

With the 192nd pick in the 2016 CP Mock Draft,

The Carolina Panthers select Jordan Evans, Linebacker, Oklahoma

http://image.cdnllnwnl.xosnetwork.com/pics33/0/WO/WOWMXAHVSKWMXML.20141011180353.jpg

The Panthers are quietly facing quite a bit of uncertainty at the linebacker position this offseason, as Luke Kuechly is coming off of season-ending concussions, Thomas Davis (despite a stellar 2016) is getting up there in years, and top backup AJ Klein left for big money. Shaq Thompson should be a fixture for years in Carolina Blue and Black, but it's time to start thinking about the cast around him. Jordan Evans is a supremely athletic linebacker with 40 times in the low 4.5s and a vertical jump topping 38" and it shows in his play. He racked up almost 100 tackles this year for the Sooners to go along with four interceptions. Evans sometimes struggles to get off of blocks, but the Panthers' scheme thrives on the big men up front keeping their playmaking linebackers clean. Evans has a shot to build himself a backup role early with long term starter potential.

CleveSteve, if you've been wondering how you can be less annoying, I have a great suggestion for you.

Just give us the position abbreviation, please. You don't have to spell out "linebacker" or "running back." Yes, it's a simple fix, but the point is you're making us do it every time you pick. In total, you're wasting probably 30 seconds of my life by doing that unnecessarily. That's 30 seconds I could spend yelling at TigerUppercut or some other enjoyable activity.

The 49ers select Shelton Gibson, WR - West Virginia

This really screws the Broncos pooch and they probably should've worked a deal with the 49ers to swap spots but Kyle Shanahan has politely requested that John Elway go fuck himself with a shovel. Nobody's real sure why but the 49ers front office suddenly has real animosity towards the Broncos.

So as I continue to scan the board and look at where the Broncos need help, it's pretty obvious that they dicked up that Wheeler pick pretty badly and should've taken Gibson there. There are a couple of nice players still on the board but they'd struggle to make the squad and get the development reps they need.

So with my 4th draft card ripped up and thrown on the ground, the Broncos select Jamaal Williams, RB - BYU.

I have no good reason to make this pick but the 4 guys I thought about prior to it gave me very loud reasons NOT to make those picks. I suspect I'll end up making them anyway as all 4 seem likely to go undrafted for various reasons.

Elway really screwed up the back of the 5th; definitely should've taken Gibson at 177 especially since he was in the 49ers war room and knew they liked him with one of their 6th rounders.

Yeah, my thought was that it should save the 49ers a few million/season for the next 3-4 seasons and if he sucks in camp, they still have Gould. So they tossed a relatively worthless pick at the wall to see if it sticks. If it does, they'll get a guy that puts points on the board (I still see placekickers as borderline skill position guys in that regard) and does so in a damn cost effective manner.

I've never understood the 'you don't draft a kicker' set. I understand that Cairo was a UDFA but he was also a hell of a project. If you can shave a year off that curve by using a last day pick on the guy - go right ahead.

Considering some of the rumors I've heard about where he might go, it's possible that Sfeihc just blew everybody out of the water with one single pick in our draft value comparison game we do at the end of these things.

We're talking getting this guy at a 150-point value.

He's been sitting on my value list for 2 rounds now and I almost pulled the trigger for KC in the 5th, but I really really hate Albert Wilson and the WRs were disappearing too fast for me pull the trigger on a 2nd QB.

I'd have no problem if the Chiefs took two QB's this year. You'd have to think Dorsey and Reid would hit on one.

I couldn't get over his gigantic forehead and lack of eyebrows.

I know it's not his fault; it's a disease. But I think it was Brandt that took a good point and instead turned it into the single dumbest thing I've ever heard about QB's - "If every QB in this draft class were going for a ride somewhere, they'd toss Mark Sanchez the keys; he has that 'it' factor"

I mean, that's just fucking retarded. I toss the keys to the subservient bitch that I know will drive while I can sit in back and drink.

But there's still a kernel of wisdom in that turd. If you're in the huddle with Josh Dobbs and he's barking out signals, could you ever see him as more than that guy from Powder? If he's trying to give some pre-game lockerroom speech and you can't make eye contact because he just gives you the damn heebee jeebees, how good can he be?

Seriously - no hideously ugly quarterbacks. They just don't work. That dude almost certainly spent his middle school years getting picked on and even when he was some stud athlete in high school, he wasn't pulling the trim that some benchwarmer on the basketball team could because he looks like he has AIDS. That has to kill his self-confidence. So no, I would not toss him the keys because I wouldn't want to be in the same vehicle as him.

So I took Brad Kaaya. Brad Kaaya slays pussy, you just know it. Slingin' passes and cum - that's what I want in my quarterback.

Maybe it's just the haircut.

But if you applied this rule over time, you would have passed up Peyton Manning for Brian Griese or somebody. I'm not sure that rule works.

Not true - look at that strong jaw line and flowing locks:

http://media.jrn.com/images/K0012605561--772940.JPG

Look at the eye contact with that mascot. He's asserting his dominance over a 6 foot tall bloodhound right there. You ever get into a staring contest with a Furry? I have not...I will not.

Manning, during his formative years, would've been a handsome dude and built up all kinds of confidence. It wasn't until he was in his 30s that he looked like Lurch.

EDIT: ARGGH!!! Jesus, I just made eye contact with Dobbs while quoting your post. I'm deleting that shit. Freaky bastard.

The best theory I've ever seen on the subject is that Peyton Manning is Tom Brady's portrait of Dorian Gray.

Every time Tom Brady takes a hit, Peyton Manning wears the scar.

Look at Brady from 2000 to 2016

https://i.ytimg.com/vi/-vWgGbpTwr8/hqdefault.jpg

to this

http://www.bostonherald.com/sites/default/files/styles/gallery/public/media/2016/05/09/051016brady1.jpg?itok=AOkl4o9z

All the while, Peyton Manning was progressing from the dapper QB in the Tennessee photo into the this:

https://nbcprofootballtalk.files.wordpress.com/2016/01/503294938-e1452181164605.jpg

Tom Brady made a deal with the devil (well...duh) and part of that deal was that Peyton Manning would be cursed to wear Brady's sins.

Agreed. And the other thing that made me hate this prick was the way he bought into Gruden's bullshit. Because Gruden did his usual shtick of:

"AEROSPACE ENGINEERING! WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT? ARE YOU BUILDING SPACE SHIPS OR SOME SHIT? THAT'S CRAZY! I HAD BRAD JOHNSON ONCE AND HE WAS ALSO CRAZY SMART. READ BOOKS AND SHIT!"

And Dobbs bought into it with his stuttery bullshit of: "Yeah, that's right. I'm basically a rocket scientist. Yep. You want a smart QB? I'm a rocket scientist. I study rocket science."

Welcome back from commercial break!

With the 210th pick of the NFL Selection Meeting, the Seattle Seahawks select Josh Malone, WR, Tennessee.

With the oft-injured Paul Richardson set to be a free agent after the 2017 season and Jermaine Kearse being a potential guy they could let go, the 'Hawks might be looking to add a big receiver with potential. Some pundits have Malone rated as a 3rd to 4th round pick, so Seattle is giddy getting him this late.

I've sat on Dural for 2 rounds now.

That 3-cone time is beyond bad; it's fucking OL caliber. I don't know how he could've possibly done that poorly on that drill. And then when use it to go watch him run routes, you kinda see why.

I'm not sure what kind of offense he can succeed in, to be honest. The feet are just soooooo sloooooow.

The Los Angeles Chargers select Chad Kelly, QB, Ole Miss

The Chargers need a formidable backup and potential heir to Phillip Rivers. There is no doubt Kelly can play football, the question is whether or not he'll be available given his off-the-field concerns. The 7th round is a nice spot to roll the dice on a guy that would likely be a 2nd round pick.

Chargers Draft:

1.007 - Reuben Foster, ILB, Alabama
2.038 - Obi Melifonwu, FS, Connecticut
3.071 - Dion Dawkins, OT/G, Temple
4.113 - Shaquill Griffin, CB, Central Florida
5.151 - Kenny Golladay, WR, Northern Illinois
6.190 - Hunter Dimick, DE, Utah
7.225 - Chad Kelly, QB, Ole Miss

---

The Seattle Seahawks select Damarius Travis, SS, Minnesota

The Seahawks need a versatile safety as a reserve, especially to back up Kam Chancellor. Travis is a bigger safety that has shown the penchant to lay the wood, but he's also really solid in coverage and was asked to do a multitude of things in that facet for the Gophers.

Seahawks Draft:

1.026 - Fabian Moreau, CB, UCLA
2.058 - Antonio Garcia, LT, Troy
3.090 - Tyus Bowser, DE/OLB, Houston
3.102 - Larry Ogunjobi, DT, Charlotte

Thank you for the love on my draft.

Smoot was a tough choice best available at the time of the pick not a real fan of his play. So I hedged my bet in case he isn't as advertised with Fields if that guy didn't have off field problems he would've been a first or second round pick. I felt comfortable with the bears draft when I looked at it overall.

Vikings have been ignoring this position for awhile because their idiot GM fell in love with a bunch of other random crap. Luckily there are plenty of decent potential CBs left that could make a difference one day for a team. Former receiver, so he's kind of a Marcus Cooper-type prospect. Let's hope he's better than that sack of crap.

Our only missed draft need was punter. Jeff Locke left in free agency. But once again- fuck punters.

2.48- Dan Feeney, OG, Indiana

My Saints draft is done

1. John Ross, WR, Washington
1. Takarist McKinley, DE/OLB, UCLA
2. Garret Conley, CB, Ohio St
3. Bucky Hodges, TE, Va Tech
3. Joe Mathis, DE/OLB, Washington
6. Josh Harvey-Clemons, S, Louisville
7. T.J. Logan, RB, UNC

Along with year 2 Rankins and Bell, I think the 4 defensive players I got could be enough to see some significant improvement on the Saints D. Ross, Hodges, and Logan gives the offense some cheap weapons to help squeeze the most out of the final years of the Brees era.

49ers draft is done:

1) Marshon Lattimore, CB, Ohio State
2) Christian McCaffrey, RB, Stanford (34)
3) Zay Jones, WR, Eastern Carolina (66)
4) Tarell Basham, DE/OLB, Ohio (109)
4) Kendall Beckwith, ILB, LSU (143 - comp)
5) Brad Kaaya, QB - Miami (146)
5) Julie'n Davenport, OT, Buffalo (161; via Was)
6) Zane Gonzales, K, ASU (198; via Bal)
6) Shelton Gibson, WR, WVU (202; via Den)
7) David Sharpe, G, Florida (219)

This was never intended to be a transformational draft; it was a foundational one. It was my effort at getting the team set up to move forward through next year's draft. I tried to put some weapons around the '18 QB choice while solidifying some holes in the defense.

The 49ers badly needed a #1 CB and they got the best guy in the draft. Ideally they'll find a trade partner with this pick but without trades, this is the way to go. They got two weapons that fit Shanahan's offense extremely well in McAffrey and Jones (and Carlos Hyde works as a primary power back). Gibson should even find some good space to work with late.

Basham and Beckwith are production vs. measurements guys; they were just good football players in college and right now that's a steady baseline that the 49ers could really use. Kaaya and Gonzalez are attempts at cost-control for future cap cleaning. They can provide steady, reliable placeholders for cheap as the 49ers continue their efforts to wipe the slate over the coming years.

On the OL, Davenport has genuine LT skills and there aren't a lot of guys in this draft you can say that about. He may not find the technique, but most of the T prospects in this draft can't play LT even with ideal fundamentals. Davenport has the length and athleticism to play on that island if you can polish him up. I love grabbing him in the 5th. Sharpe has uncommon mass and that's difficult to deal with on the interior. If he can get his play strength up via smarter get-off (keeping his pads down), he can be a credible interior lineman/swing player.

I had a plan for this draft, I stuck to it and I think it worked out. This won't help them win 5 more games in '17 and that's precisely the point - they can play most of these guys next year, get them some live fire and still be in a position in '18 to pick a QB in the top 5 and take those weapons (and experience) to the next level.

This would be a pretty outstanding draft for SF, IMO. Kaaya and Gonzalez are picks that may cost me some 'points' but I think they make sense for the squad.

The Los Angeles Rams select DJ Jones, NT, Ole Miss

Rams need a one gap nose tackle for Wade Phillips new 3-4 in LA and Aaron Donald would be ruined having to kick all the way inside to do it. Jones is a very athletic fat guy with some pretty good production and is an ideal fit for this particular role. Donald gets to continue to play 3 technique defensive end in the asymmetric 3-4 run by Phillips, with Brockers at the 5T end.

Well, I was planning on selecting between two other positions with this last pick, but Tampa does really need a SAM and I was surprised to see that Biegel was still available when I was putting in my pick. I was negligent at center but my guess is the guy I was going to draft here will make it to UDFA so I'll justify it to myself that way. otherwise I'm pretty happy with what I came away with for Tampa. The Broncos should've signed Ryan Clady so they could draft David Njoku and stayed the hell out of this OT class, but since Elway sat ass all off-season and left a gaping hole in the area that could easily be the weakest in the entire draft class, he was left scrambling and never really hit the sweet spot on the TE in this class.

So he's going to have to gamble on a raw, looks like Tarzan and plays like Jane kind of player - the Broncos select Darrell Daniels, TE, Washington.

Just a hell of an athlete but may never have the 'good weight' or desire to be a real TE; more of a red-zone kind of #2 TE and pure pass catching threat. Though in today's NFL, somebody like that can get quite a few useful snaps.

A disappointing 'settle' at such a deep position in this year's draft, but still a lot of raw talent to work with here.

When I was researching Davenport I remembered Wheeler (crazy) and Sharpe (blind).

So when picks came up later and my board had been picked clean, I just went to verify that crazy and blind were who I thought they were and made the pick.

I'd have gone back and found "shitty 3-cone" had he not been taken. I pretty much just vaguely recall scrap heap players that I moved on from for some reason or another and see if they're still bouncing around.

Well guys, sometimes need meets availability and the only reason a talent like this is available at the end of the first is the fact he needs to be taught a pro style offense. The tools to be a top level starter in the NFL are clearly there. Pairing him with a great teacher like Andy Reid and with a huge staff of coaches to help him learn the nuances of the position (as well as a smart QB as the starter that prepares like a real professional) will help this kid be the Chiefs starting QB that leads them to a Super Bowl title between 2018-2030.

For New England's final pick, our celebrity draft picker will make the pick remotely via the World Wide Web. A faculty member at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a fellow at Harvard, he is not formally a citizen of Boston, but we're the Patriots so we don't really care about following the rules. This fellow is widely recognized in Boston as the third-most accomplished denizen of Massachusetts after Brady and Belichick.

New England really should have drafted that Buchanan kid from Miami (OH) on the offensive line, but we have the luxury of having no needs given Tom Brady's holy presence on the field. So we drafted a low-risk, high-reward player who could potentially be a playmaker for us.

New England had no picks in the first two rounds, so we were a bit challenged on high-impact picks. Nonetheless, we're happy that we filled some key areas: pass rush specialists, a potential 1st down running back, safety help to build for the future, and some help in the receiving game.

There was a guy maybe two years ago who organized a preference-choice system of UDFAs following our mock. It seemed like a lot of work, but it was kind of interesting.

I think the problem was a lot of it was based on luck, since your ability to select your guy came down to whether or not you played the market correctly. If you really wanted an undrafted kicker, and your team didn't have a first dibs spot, you'd have to rank the kicker above some really good players that you would prefer to have instead of the kicker.

Also, not everybody submitted a list, so some teams got UDFAs while others just had nothing. And some guys had UDFAs that everybody had already picked, so they ended up with like, one guy

OL needy teams are definitely kind of sunk this year. It doesn't help that the Colts haven't even touched OL in free agency, so Andrew Luck may just have to try to survive one more year until he has a season where his head does not get taken off.

As I was drafting this team I was pretty discouraged of how my picks were going because I felt they were more need-based than BPA, but overall now that I'm looking at it I'm liking it more than I thought I would. Bolles is going to be huge for them and Webb could be a guy O'Brien would like to use. Wish I would've pulled the trigger on a true NT earlier but I think Watkins can be pretty versatile among that line.

That's a pretty solid draft. I have a feeling we're going to be saying that to a lot of drafters this year.

I did a good and shitty job for the Broncos, if that makes you feel any better.

I really like my 3rd round for them (love Jaleel Johnson) but am pretty unimpressed otherwise. Probably jumped the gun on Jones; just didn't take into proper account how deep the CB class was.

For a draft as deep as this one is, my Broncos haul is going to end up at C- or worse on further reflection.

The Kansas City Chiefs select Austin Rehkow, punter/kicker, Idaho

This is definetly an outside the box type of pick I'm comfortable making at the tail end of the whole draft.

This kid is a damn good punter that had a really nice average over the last 3 years (almost as good as Colquitt) and here comes the fun part...

He was 26/29 on FGs last year, so he would fill both kicker and punter spots.

That alone would save KC 6m in cap space this year and it would also open up an extra roster spot to carry an extra player they would otherwise have to cut.

So, I think it's worth the move to save 6m and have an extra roster spot.

Hand this kid to Toub and lets roll.

Yeah it kind of stinks unless most people submit a list...

Here's the Cowboys draft. They have too many lower end picks and will need to make some moves since most of these guys won't make the roster.

1.28 Derek Barnett, DE/OLB, Tennessee
2.60 Jourdan Lewis, CB, Michigan
3.92 Dede Westbrook, WR, Oklahoma
4.133 George Kittle, TE, Iowa
6.211 Matt Milano, LB, Boston College
7.228 Jessamen Dunker, OG, Tennessee State
7.246 Austin Carr, WR, Northwestern

Somebody's going to take this shrimp midget. I don't think it will be Pittsburgh, but it would be interesting to see Todd try to fit this little shrimp into the offense on 3rd down. He seemed to love bullshit like this with McCluster and others, so I don't see why he wouldn't have a good time on this.

He might weigh 175, but it's a HEAVY 175...

Pittsburgh selects Donnel Pumphrey, RB, San Diego State

Pittsburgh's draft:

1.30. Carl Lawson, DE/OLB, Auburn
2.62. Adam Shaheen, TE, Ashland
3.94. Jalen Myrick, CB, Minnesota
3.105. Davon Godchaux, DT, LSU
4.135. Taywan Taylor, WR, Western Kentucky
5.173. Connor Harris, ILB, Lindenwood
6.213. Avery Moss, DE/OLB, Youngstown State
7.248. Donnel Pumphrey, RB, San Diego State

Yuck. I didn't win any drafts with this one. I'm pretty sour on my first two picks, really liked what I did in the 3rd and 4th rounds, and I thought I finished strong on some players that have real potential to stick on an NFL roster instead of get washed out.

I don't know what I was thinking with the Lawson pick. I had my eyes set on Barnett and Watt so freakin hard that I convinced myself Lawson was an okay 2nd prize to one of them, but man, he's looking like a pretty big reach now. And while Adam Shaheen has potential to be a really great pro, I don't think taking him in the 2nd round is going to give me all of the value I thought I could get out of him.

At least my crap draft came at the expense of a douchebag team.

I 'bout grabbed Pumphrey for Denver but had already taken Williams and see him as almost exclusively a 3rd down back.

It's a nice pick this late; he'll make a team and provide a little value in a RB rotation somewhere, IMO.

With their last pick, I hope Denver takes Simone Biles, Olympic gymnast. I bet her three-cone time is really good.

I see her as a viable alternative to Pumphrey, too.

With the 249th pick, the Atlanta Falcons select, Montae Nicholson, S, Michigan State

31. Atlanta - Taco Charlton, DE, Michigan
63. Atlanta - Montravius Adams, DT, Auburn
95. Atlanta - Ethan Pocic, C, LSU
136. Atlanta - Jordan Leggett, TE, Clemson
174. Atlanta - Fred Ross, WR, Mississippi State
249. Atlanta - Montae Nicholson, S, Michigan State

Pretty happy with the draft for Atlanta, I especially think the defensive players could all contribute in a major way very quickly.
