This doesn’t bode well for the next few games.

Mizzou staring at 3-3.

Have you been watching the games, mate? They've been shit since they let the best DL coach in the country walk for this joke of a coach.

Are you talking about Kuligowski? Wasn't he supposedly the guy who leaked something to one of MU's opponents after he was let go?

Btw Hamas is my guy. I have no beef with him I think he was joking with me. When I'm in Como this coming April for a wedding I got a bottle of Blantons for us. I hope Busby pulls up too. Good man right there. Best college football takes on this board.

Enough to knock Lock out of the 1st round. If Georgia doesn't do it on their own Alabama will be more than happy to finish the job.

So, how completely do we get our shit pushed in tomorrow?

Here's the good news - how much worse can GA's passing offense really maul us? I mean seriouly - is Fromme gonna throw for 650 yards? Seems unlikely.

I don't think UGA can possibly gouge us any worse than Purdue did, as weird as that sounds. It's just not possible given the amount of time/yards are available on the field.

So I expect we'll see another shootout and I don't think it's a given that we get smoked with Lock at Faurot. Kid balls out at home and can throw the ball with anyone in the NCAA. If Hall is remotely healthy and Knox continues to look comfortable, Lock has weapons for days and can match score for score with UGA, IMO.

I think we'll lose by 10ish after Georgia kinda pulls away in the 4th, but I wouldn't be surprised if we have a lead at some point in the 3rd.

We’re gonna get smoked, no doubt about it.

But Lock will probably still throw for 300+ and 3-4 TD’s, with probably a couple picks mixed in, so I doubt it hurts his Heisman candidacy that much.

Now, that being said, if Missouri pulls off a miracle and Lock matches Fromme TD for TD in a high scoring affair and Mizzou somehow eeks out a win, he instantly becomes the front runner for the Heisman trophy and Mizzou vaults into the Top 20 and all of Mizzou nation celebrates (until Bama delivers the reality check 2 weeks later).

But, again, we gonna get smoked . . . . .

It's a shame Lock couldn't have played with the talent that Daniel or Franklin did. MU would have had a national championship more than likely.

What does Mizzou's QB situation look like after Lock (wins the Heisman and) graduates?

Not good. Not good at all.

The undersized transfer from LSU (who got a scholarship offer because their 3 other QBs all flaked so they threw the local boy a scholly at the last minute because they knew he'd say yes). They also got a kid from Ohio (Bazalek) that is kindof a poor man's Luck. Taller kid, pocket passer with a decent arm.

But the problem is that you could pretty easily call Kirk Farmar a poor man's Luck if you felt so inclined and that shit couldn't cut it in the Big 12, let alone the SEC.

They have a couple of serviceable backups, IMO, and that's about it. They needed a bit time QB recruit last cycle and their guy abandoned ship during their losing streak; went to A&M. Best thing I can say about Bazalek is that Georgia evidently offered him and actually had their QB coach recruiting him so that's a decent sign.

He's the best shot we have at a true long-term starter but he's raw and he's young. He doesn't have the raw talent of Lock and he'd get eaten alive as a true freshman.

Gentlemen - enjoy 2018 as much as you can because '19 ain't gonna be pretty. If we're lucky, '20 sees some dividends from there but this is as talented and deep a roster as we'll see in a long time. On offense it's possibly as good as we've ever had (even the Maclin/Daniel years). The defense has more talent than it's showed to this point but I think part of the problem is that their weakness in the secondary is just so easily exploited and the lack of athleticism in the LB corps just makes it worse.

I don't follow them as close as I used to when I was in HS, but I think we have a couple of fairly decent prospects waiting in line to battle it out next year.

2019 4* commit- Connor Bazelak - he's the number 13 ranked pro style qb and the 10th best recruit in Ohio.

Then we have a juco QB who is a Sophomore this year - Lindsay Scott - he was the number 1 pro style juco QB.

I'm thinking more than likely it'll be Bazelak as a true fresman next year. Hopefully he's a bad ass.

He threw 4 touchdowns against Georgia last time they played, on the road.

As long as Lock puts up good numbers he can be a first rounder

Did losing to superior teams knock Mahomes out of the first round?

Scott was so bad in summer practices that he fell behind Micah Wilson and Taylor Powell - those guys barely had any power 5 offers. Lowary may be ahead of him as well and I'm not sure why he got a scholarship at all. Scott's JUCO ranking is misleading; his HS ranking was barely a 3-star guy.

All 4 of the guys behind Lock right now are equally unacceptable for SEC conference play. None of them are demonstrably better or more capable of excelling against an SEC defense than the other 3. They're all borderline backups and little else.

That's one of my greatest frustrations with Odom - you have a half-dozen QBs with exceptionally successful college careers over the last decade+ here, some of whom are cashing NFL game checks. Yet you can't manage to pull together a better QB room than Kansas for 2019 when the starters gig is going to be wide open? That recent history and the pedigree of the SEC and he's still picking up scraps.

Pretty damn poor, IMO.

It's not the fact that he was losing, it's how he does it. Dude was having some awful games against teams with winning records. There was a graphic shown againsy TN-Martin and it was horrific. Scoring something like 40+ points against teams with losing records and 18 against teams with winning records. This is his chance to get the monkey off his back.

Mahomes would lose but he would put up gaudy stats in doing so.

The turnaround came during the Kentucky game

There was something wrong with the team through the first 5 weeks of the season, and I put most of that on HC Barry Odom, not Lock.

Something turned around the week of the Kentucky game, and Mizzou's offense remained red hot. The Texas game was bad, but we literally had a kid calling plays, and a new offensive line coach

I expect a good game from our offense tomorrow.

Funny how no matter how bad the state teams are, 4 star/5 star kids dream to play for their home state colleges in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana, South Carolina, Ohio, Michigan, etc.....

Until the days that more kids who are 4 star/5 star athletes in Missouri decide to stay at home and build this program here, MU is just going to be 2nd tier. They will have to find a way to make 2 & 3 star athletes play above their level and make this team competitive.

Beckner and Lock are anomalies.....kids who stayed home and played here. We've had a few more over the years but more times than not (and not just football, basketball too) we are watching the best of Mizzou play elsewhere.

Being realistic, Mizzou was not gonna win this game.

But you add in WR’s dropping catches that turn into INT’s, incorrectly called FG’s and refs helping block for UGA on returns, just way too much to overcome.

I expected this to be a game where Lock kept us in a game where the defense floundered. It is the exact opposite.

Lock looks lost without Emmanuel Hall. And the receivers have vaseline on their hands...

Honestly this game should be 13-7....that gift that GA got at the start of the game hurt.

Yup.

If you had told me the defense would play as well as they have for an entire half against UGA, I would have said Mizzou easily up by at least 7 going into the break.

Maybe Lock and the offense will look better in the second half, but unfortunately can’t see the D continuing to hold up the way they did in the first half.

Too many fuckup's to win.

Bullshit fumble return for a TD & Blocked punt for a TD. Can't win games like that against bad teams much less the #2 team in the nation. Georgia looked beatable today but today feels like a giant missed opportunity. I wonder if a healthy Emanuel Hall changes this game at all? He really wasn't a factor. Missouri didn't hit anything deep. If officials are going to be so reliant on instant replay, they really should have goal line cameras at every game...NFL & college. I've wondered for years why they never have.

The plan never stood a chance from the start and really Odom was fucked from the get go.

He's trying to copy a Gary Pinkel map without having the ability to coach, develop and recruit like Gary Pinkel. There was a great coach right there for the taking, who would of gladly chosen Missouri over Iowa State, and they never bothered to even call him.

I think they need to go with Neal Brown this time around.

Since this board has told me Frost isnt a good coach, Heupel has taken over UCF and hasnt missed a beat. Left nut debunked and hed more in the know but I still contend Heupel is a great coach.

Neal Brown would also be a great hire. Good coach and has connections in the south.

With that said you guys are 3-1 and while Odom got off to a rough start he took care of business down the stretch.

Unless the next coach is guaranteed to lock down in state talent I think its lunacy to fire a guy who will win 7 or 8 games this year.

I guess it really depends on if you're a glass half full or half empty kind of guy.

I just don't think the program is going to go forward at all with Barry Odom and with the strategic shift on being more of a football university, they need to not settle with maybe we'll be lucky with an okay year here and there and get a bowl game. Don't think we'd even be having this conversation today if a ton of programs didn't collapse all at once last season.

I noticed the tone changed once you guys laid an egg vs Texas in that bowl game. As it turns out Texas is looking like it might actually be a pretty good team. Beat SC next week and I'd imagine some of the heat on Odom dies down.

My tone has kept pretty consistent through the whole run, but yeah general opinion has been up and done. I've always felt he wasn't good. I also think that Drew Lock is overrated as a prospect for the NFL and never saw what teams saw when they mouthed first round pick, but fuck if Josh Allen is a top ten than I guess it's possible.

The one thing that we've always known is that any coach in any sport at any level (Larry Coker, Barry Switzer, Frank Haith, Les Miles, et al) can win with someone else's player's, but it's a hell of a lot harder to do it with your own.

Where are the impact players that Odom has brought in? His best defender, his QB, and his #1 WR are all Pinkel's recruits. Albert O signed when Pinkel was still here, as did Nate Brown. There are some good lineman that they've signed, like Durant, but most of those were either signed before Pinkel resigned or they're JUCO guys. The one thing he has done is brought in good RB talent, but Crockett has not looked like the same player from two years ago, when he was one of the most dynamic freshman in Missouri history.

The cupboard is extremely thin, and it's thin because Odom can't recruit in this state worth a damn. A lot of us said it a while back, but him striking out on all that in-state talent in the last recruiting cycle was going to be his downfall. Given that he hasn't shown an ability to recruit top end talent or find enough diamonds in the rough (the development of pass rushers has completely disintegrated since Kuligowski left) there is almost nothing to hang his hat on. The coach after Odom is going to have nothing to work with.

That's game. Odom isn't a good enough coach to keep the team from losing its composure.

Yeah - this is the kind of game that can cost a coach his job.

They're going to get seamrolled by 'Bama next week and suddenly another fight for 6-6 is in the offing.

You can go out there and just lose games because you're not as talented as the other guy for a looooong time so long as you're in that roughly .500 range. But this is the kind of game that stands out during the post-season debriefing.

This might be Odom's 'Bowman moment'. The game where I knew Matheny was a dead man walking. I've never seen a team completely implode like this.

He hasn't sucked all game. He played fine in the first half; nothing amazing but a credible performance.

But in the 3rd quarter, everyone failed miserably and Lock led the charge. He needed to be the guy that stopped the bleeding but instead he's just exacerbated it.

Just damn disappointing.

I saw a lot of bad passes in the 1st half....typical Lock shit...under thrown ..weak..off the back foot...behind guys

He was awful that quarter. No one is denying that. You've also done nothing but bitch about him for three years and it's not only fucking pathetic, but it's dumb as fuck. This team wins maybe 2 games this year with one of the other QBs on the roster.

He made one bad throw and it was under pressure. He also has no real timing with the weapons he has at present.

He didn't look like anything resembling 'shit'. He didn't play exceptionally well but on the road without his top 2 targets, that's going to be expected. He played fine. If you're slamming him for his first half, you were simply seeing what you wanted to see.

The 3rd quarter, OTOH, was hot garbage.

The sad thing is that Mizzou is a much better team.

Did you walk away from the Georgia game thinking that GA was an appreciably better team than Mizzou? I didn't.

It's looking more and more like Missouri's tendency towards unforced errors at terrible times needs to be seen as a reflection on the coaching staff. This is an experienced team that simply isn't playing with focus.

This game has to put Odom firmly on the hot seat.

Can you please learn the game or shut the fuck up? Jesus Christ - Albert has a HUGE size advantage there against a true freshman. He's easily the best pass-catcher on the team right now and it's not particularly close.

Maybe you run it - fine. But that play is absolutely a reasonable call given that matchup. The other guys are on scholarship too.

Mizzou wins that game with competent officiating and composure, but Odom clearly can't instill that. He's far too emotional when he shouldn't be, and reserved when he should.

He should have been all over the refs' asses after the Crockett calls, but said nothing. He doesn't understand the difference between righteous anger and a conniption

If Mizzou plays GA at home 10 times, I'm betting they win 6. I walked out of that stadium dead certain that Mizzou was roughly as good as Georgia and they just Mizzou'd the shit out of it.

It was just maddening as hell. Yes, the officiating boned us with the forward progress call and the 'touchback touchdown' but even with BOTH of those plays, Mizzou had chances to take the game back and they simply kept making key mistakes, mostly in coverage, at critical times.

Just a heartbreaking failure mostly because of the opportunity lost.

Oh. So you're just stridently and foolishly dogmatic. Well that's much better.

There are a whole slew of times where that play is a good play. And when you have your giant TE matched up against a much smaller freshman, that would be one of those times.

Matchups absolutely dictate when/how that play should be used. To just sit there and call it stupid "because I always think it's stupid" is....well...not smart.

Like I said, we've been running the ball great and Lock hasn't thrown an accurate pass in quite a while.....why go with the guy who is having a bad game vs. what has been working?

Because "do it until it doesn't work anymore" isn't the way to go with a potential game tying play. Moreover, we HAVEN'T been running the ball well in those goal-line situations.

Lock made a fine throw. O was roughly where he needed to be, the play just got broken up because again - the other guy's on scholarship as well.
