Hawks, Kerney agree to terms

ESPN.com's John Clayton has the news: The Seahawks have agreed to terms with Falcons DE Patrick Kerney on a six-year contract. More to come. John is reporting that this is a $39.5 million deal with about $19.5 million in guarantees. The Seahawks were looking for d-line help not only for what a new player might bring on his own. The team also needed to find relief for Bryce Fisher and Grant Wistrom, who are more effective when they don't have to play every down. Fisher played a very high percentage of snaps last season. Darryl Tapp provided some relief for Wistrom. Kerney gives them another starting-caliber player up front. The question, of course, is whether he can bounce back from injury and continue to produce beyond age 30.

I dunno... I think McMichael's assclown factor is a bit out of whack.

Our first pick is late in the 2nd round.. Wistrom cant play as much as he used to and we needed a proven guy for a quality rotation at the end position.. We still could use a DT though.. Tubbs had microfracture surgery a couple months ago so who knows how well he recovers from that..

You'll be needing a safety with Hamelin gone also, won't you?

Well, we picked up Mike Green from the Bears last year and he was looking fgreat until he broke his foot in preseason.. If we lose Hamlin we will be needing a guy, but hopefully we can find a good younfg guy in the draft.. Babineaux also plays safety, I really do not want to lose him

We don't want Babineaux, at least not at the 2nd round price attched to him at this point, so you can keep him.
