Green looked like nervous crap last year

i think it's 70/30 that if Green comes back healthy and in a decent system he can throw 3,000+ yards again.
Let's say he looked uncomfortable, as you put it. Is he going to be any better going to a new team with a new system behind a line he doesn't know, throwing to receivers he doesn't know? This isn't a young guy we're talking about. He's not going to have Tony Gonzalez. He's not going to have Larry Johnson. He may find a line even worse than what we fielded last season.

Combine those factors with his age, and I think it's a recipe for a bad end to a good career.

That's assuming he isn't just a backup.

I also don't think Green, at his age, would have gardered a 2nd rounder in a trade last year, prior to the concussion. But that's just my opinion. I don't think any team is going to dish out that much for a 36-year old signal caller. Now we're a year later, after a serious injury and a poor season.

As for Huard, I don't expect anything from him. He's had his 15 minutes in the sun. It was fun while it lasted, now it's back to mentoring the clipboard.

If you were to go back 4 years and look at the posts you would see that I was pretty unhappy to give up the 1st for Green. I wanted to sign a free-agent QB (Collins, I think) and draft McAllister. Green actually did impress me the last 4 years but he was not the same player after that concussion. I don't think it is "throwing Green under the bus" to recognize that Green did not play well after the concussion. That is a fact.
so many people around here ... i don't know if YOU would of freaked.

but it would of happened

heck, there would of a 12-page thread if i would of said Trent Green doesn't have a very strong arm 12 months ago.

I think maybe you're so focused on Peterson/Herm that you're not seeing Green's play for what it was last year. He played well in exactly one game, his third after the injury (Cleveland). He was awful in the two before that, he was awful in the 5 after that.

That's a half a season of bad play. It wasn't a week or two. And I don't think it was a rhythm thing. He was making bad decisions and poor throws week after week. He looked like an even worse version of himself from 2001. I'm sure that Solari was a part of that, I'm sure that the line was a part of that, I'm sure that the receivers were a part of that. I'm also, however, sure that Green himself is a part of that, and I think maybe the biggest part.

He's 37. He's even less mobile now than before, and it's only going to get worse. He's had a serious head injury. He's not the same player he was, physically or mentally. You could see it in the way he looked on the field and in the pocket. Personally, I think he's done. He looks to me a lot like Kurt Warner did when he fell off the map.

It's a shame. I think he's a great guy.
Green didn't play well other than the Cleveland game. Against good defenses, our offense looked completely inept, no matter who was the quarterback. Our offense looked good against Cleveland and the NFC West. Wonder why?

If I thought we had the player talent and coaching talent to make a serious run, I'd definitely want Trent back. Given our Herminated offense, losing Green is anti-climatic.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Trent play very well for his next team, though.

To me, starting Damon Huard is tantamount to throwing in the towel as far as winning championships is concerned. He may be able to "manage a game", but what happens when you fall behind? I guess for that matter, Herm's brand of offense itself has already thrown in the towel and is simply playing for 9-7 seasons.
