WTF is Twilight? And WTF is up with the Hype?

I'm seriously missing out on some cultural phenomenon.

I've seen shit about it, but intentionally ignored it. Now, it's going crazy.

WTF is the appeal?

For a girl movie, it was solid, and I will probably see the next movies in the series. Some of you were way too negative about it.

Haven't seen it, but it's popular among college girls. The school library had to keep ordering new copies because others would mysteriously get lost. I assume it's only girls that read it, in between their primetime tv shows and late night chick flicks.

Women do not seem to realize that it's not real. All they talk about is having sex with Edward or whatever his deal is or how he's soooo dreamy.

Aside from the vampire deal, it's a preprocessed teenager kind of story.

Yea, i tried watching it with my wife a few weeks ago. Blah....

Its a teeny bopper love story with a sprinkle of vampire lore.

Not my thing, but it wasnt intended to be.

I actually read the four book series. Why? Because I have dug vampire stories ever since I found the vampire chronicles in HS, and my sister had them. Most of the books are written from a HS girls view, so most of us just are not going to get it. I found the love story sort of dull and both of them seem slow to pick up on things the reader and everyone else can tell. Luckily the other characters in the books were interesting, and actually kept me reading. I did find the love story easier to swallow than all the man love in the Chronicles though (and yes, I used swallow because that's damn funny in that sentence).

I never did get the abstinence thing others have mentioned here from the book, but I'll agree that the writing was flawed. I haven't seen the movie, but I have low expectations.

I never read the book, I did rent the movie and I thought it SUCKED BAWLS.
**spoiler**
It was like, new girl from a big city in a small town first day at school, she's pale and the single vampire craves her blood and acts real weird around her, then he leaves for a while to think about it and all of the sudden they are madly in love, head over heels. He takes her up a tree and she wants to do him then there are these bad vampires who eat people and they all have a fight, then at the end she wants to be a vampire too!

I can't believe anyone other than a 13 year old girl would read that crap or watch the movie.
Besides, vampire stories are about as fresh as three day old dog crap.
And UP- for someone that says it's crap, you seem to know a hell of a lot about it.
