Kiper's mock -- 1-16

I'm not wild over Sanchez, but Kiper probably knows more than I do. IMO, you take BPA in the top 5, if not top 10. I think DE is our biggest need, but that would be a huge reach at #3 overall, and can probably be addressed in Rd 2.

1.Detroit Matthew Stafford QB Georgia
2 St. Louis Andre Smith OT Alabama
3 Kansas City Mark Sanchez QB USC
4 Seattle Michael Crabtree WR Texas Tech
5 Cleveland Aaron Curry LB Wake Forest
6 Cincinnati Jason Smith OT Baylor
7 Oakland Jeremy Maclin WR Missouri
8 Jacksonville Eugene Monroe OT Virginia
9 Green Bay Malcolm Jenkins CB Ohio St.
10 San Francisco Aaron Maybin DE/OLB Penn St.
11 Buffalo Brandon Pettigrew TE Oklahoma St.
12 Denver B.J. Raji DT Boston College
13 Washington Brian Orakpo DE Texas
14 New Orleans Vontae Davis CB Illinois
15 Houston Everette Brown DE Florida St.
16 San Diego Knowshon Moreno RB Georgia

Exactly. When the season ended all of a sudden the draft boards of the "experts" changed. They talked with actual scouts who told them X, Y, Z. That's why Curry suddenly became a consensus top 3 best available player.

Last year Brohm was a top 10 QB during the season. As soon as the season ended he miraculously dropped like a stone. That's because the real scouts turned in their reports and word spread.

Between now and the draft the teams will all be tight lipped and the only changes are going to come about from: (a) draft guys trying to generate talk by mixing things up and being controversial, and (b) people blowing workouts out of proportion. Every year you have dozens of "lets draft Olaf Olegson for the line. The dude did 38 reps on the bench press. He's a monster."

Brohm was exactly who I was thinking of when I posted.

And I agree 100%.

If you play a position like WR or CB the combine can kill you.

Here's how I see it playing out: The Chiefs will address a couple areas in free agency, such as offensive line, defensive line and linebacker. Sanchez will be the obvious pick and we will all be happy.

I'm advocating getting some help for Sanchez. You shouldn't be upset.

Dude, this is the DRAFT forum. This isn't the main forum where uninformed people say all kinds of stupid ass shit that we have to sort through.

If you're going to make a claim that the Chiefs will "sign free agents, then draft Sanchez", it would be nice if you would put a little research into your claims to back them up.

I gave you a list of free agent offensive linemen which you chose to crap all over. Given the Chiefs' salary cap space and Pioli's tendency to want linemen, it seems fair to think he will address that area. Again, I'm advocating helping Sanchez. You shouldn't be upset.

I'm not "upset".

It's just that I and other people (Pestilance, OTW58, Mecca, ChiefsCountry, etc.) put a lot of time and effort into discussing not only possible scenarios but why and how they could and/or should work.

Coming into the forum stating "Hey, I think we'll sign a bunch of free-agents and draft Sanchez" without any explanation of who and why the Chiefs would sign these free agents kind of dampens the spirit of this sub-forum.

I'm not trying to be a dick. I'm trying to get you MORE involved, instead of just stating the "obvious".

About the bold part: That's what I'm doing, and I'm on the side of drafting Sanchez. I want to give him some help before he comes here. I don't know everything about the free agents, but nobody here does. Given the Chiefs salary cap space, I don't see why they wouldn't sign one starter for offensive line. They could also draft one in the second to fourth rounds. I'm trying to be optimistic, and my points are reasonable. I want Sanchez to be successful here from day one.
