NFL apologizes to Page

http://chiefsblog.kansascity.com/?q=node/1029

Safety Jarrad Page said the NFL sent the Chiefs a letter acknowledging a mistake was made when Page was penalized for unnecessary roughness in last week’s loss to the Giants.

Page broke up a pass over the middle for wide receiver Steve Smith but was penalized for making helmet to helmet contact with Smith. Replays showed Page actually used his shoulder to hit Smith in the chest.

The Giants went on to score on a touchdown pass to Smith on the next play to take a 14-3 lead. They went on to win 27-16.

The league’s acknowledgment didn’t make Page feel any better.

"It doesn’t do us any good now," he said.

Apology letter? Unacceptable.

The NFL needs to set up a web site and give every Chiefs fan who signs up a free quart of single-malt scotch and a thousand dollar an hour Las Vegas hooker. If they do that, it would allow the matter to be settled, the league forgiven, and Page's name to be forever enshrined as the greatest Chief of all times.

The league needs to fine the stripes off of these guys when they screw up. If we can see it on instant replay, they should have the option of looking at it as well. Sure, they don't like to show the "controversial" plays on the large screen at the stadium, as it stands at the moment. Perhaps if they changed that policy and started showing them, these mental midgets could look up and say to themselves, "Self, I believe I may have made a mistake when I threw that flag. I had better go under the hood and make sure I don't get and IRS-like fine for making a colossal boo boo."

Great hit, perfectly timed, bogus flag. But he doesn't even try wrap the guy up while he's making the hit. Seems like a bad habit that's going to cost us down the road if the receiver manages to stay on their feet.

Plus, I think if the ref sees his arms outstretched trying to make the tackle, it'll look less like a headhunting play at full speed.

Dude got blasted! No reason to wrap up on a hit such as that. It was perfectly legal and honestly, I think we need more of those decleaters around there.

Best hit by our defence in a LONG time...I couldn't belive they cancelled it out with that bogus penalty. When I saw the hit I was thinking Haley should give Page an "atta boy" and tell him to hit like that every time. Damn ref...

Dude if you seriously think that he shouldn't have wrapped up on that hit you don't know jack. You NEVER, and I mean NEVER just go for the big hit without wrapping up. Every good coach will tell you that. Do we need people trying to slobberknock people? Sure, but the right way. I'm tired of big hitters, I want football players who do things right.

I'd like to shove this letter up the ass of the snickering fool that wrote it.

**** you and your apologies.

Coaches should be able to challenge penalties, just like plays.

Of course, that will never happen, since penalties are the league's game fixers.

DUDE! It's one freakin' hit. Have you ever played football? I would say only a handful of reeruns on this board wouldn't know that "wrapping up" is the best way to tackle. Dear God. We're talking about one hit! And I'm tired of our players being pussies. So there ya go.
