Would you try to acquire Merriman?

Apparently the Chargers are putting him on the trade block. He hasn't been good at all lately.

With that said, would you try to acquire him for say a 5th or 6th rounder to have his rights next year if it's uncapped?

Or is he finished at the ripe age of 27?

I think this defense needs someone who can potentially collapse a pocket, so I say yes, but I also get too hung up on guys who performed well years ago.

Thoughs?

I don't know if any of you have actually watched him the last two years but since he got busted for deca he looks like a shell of his his first two seasons. This year he's dragging that leg around.

You also have to remember he's in a contract year. So you give up a 4th or 5th for him and then you sign him long term or you simply gave up a pick for a guy on 1 leg for a year.

Either way, he's always been overrated. Phillips knew how to use him and get him into position for mismatches. He's not a great player by any means.

I wouldnt like the idea of it. Merriman was awesome a couple years ago, but hes lost "it" now. He doesnt have much of a burst. Its like hes a totally different player now. No intensity or anything.

I would give up a 4th round pick. Maybe a 4th and 5th. But no way a 2nd.

Well, Phillips is going to be our D-Coord next year, so it works perfectly.

He'd be a monster next year again.
You give the chiefs too much credit new england I could see doing it.

Phillips sucks as a head coach but he's a pretty decent d-co. I'd be ok with that. However the defense hasn't been the problem so far this year. If we could sustain some offense here and there I think they'd be even better (obviously).

Oh and Merriman didn't get busted for GH. You can't actually test for GH. He got busted for deca. Which is so dumb it's hard to explain. It has the longest half life of any steroid you can take and it doesn't come in oral form. So his excuse of a "tainted supplement" shows how dumb this guy is. I've never liked him.
