Yeah i'm sure Bum****, Kansas is a real big draw for top coaching candidates. And while I have no knowledge of my own on the subject, based on the posts of others in this thread Lew Perkins does not have a very good history with hiring football coaches.

Perkins may have a surprise waiting for you guys? I seriously doubt it.
Bum**** Kansas? Haha Lawrence is a 45 min from kc. I always feel I'm going to some podunk town when I go to games in Manhattan or Columbia. Weird.

Ok your right about the Lawrence part. I was just searching for insults. I actually enjoy Lawrence and was just there on Saturday hitting up the bars.

But the rest of the points in my original post still stand.

If the KU supporters were able to pay Mangino enough to make him the 16th highest paid coach in the country, I'm guessing a replacement from 17-35 highest paid coaches might be open-minded to taking a long look at KU. Urban Meyer didn't start at Florida. It's just a matter of finding the right coach.

Injecting some Illini love amongst the KU and Mizzou folks. Illinois could possibly end up stacking three very good recruiting classes together for the 09/10/11 classes. With a good x and o guy like Weber at the helm, consistent top 20 classes will get the program far.

Best classes in every D-I conference

By Scouts Inc.
ESPN.com

A conference-by-conference look at who had the best recruiting classes after the early signing period.

Big 12 Conference

Best class: Missouri
Players signed: 4
Top player: PG Phil Pressey (Dallas/Episcopal School). He is the perfect point guard for the Tigers' style of play because he is always in attack mode. Pressey can not only score and distribute, but also apply intense ball pressure.
Why it's the best: Coach Mike Anderson not only added the player ranked 31st in the ESPNU 100 in Pressey, but found another great piece to the puzzle in skilled power forward Tony Mitchell (Dallas/L.G. Pinkston), who sits at No. 57. Anderson also added a big-time shooter in local starRicky Kreklow (Columbia, Mo./Rock Bridge) and a shot-blocking presence in power forward Kadeem Green (Markham, Ont., Canada/Charlotte [N.C.] United Faith Christian Academy).

This will get about as far as preseason Big 12 north favorites.
