*** The Official Chiefs Appreciation Thread ***

Guys, good vibes here only. When I come to KC for a game and they win, my post-game celebration involves fondue and drinking a fair bit at the Melting Pot. We all have our things that help us to appreciate where we were in our youth when this team brought us endless heartache and disappointment.

I remember flying up for the Chiefs/Broncos playoff game in ‘98 from Florida, and walking out of that stadium and seeing grown men frozen in their seats in utter emotional evisceration was something I’ve never forgotten. I remember when Knile Davis returned that opening kickoff for a TD and how my wife of 5 days and I celebrated the first Chiefs playoff win. I remember everything after that.

And now I remember 5 straight AFCCGs “hosted.” Quotes obviously because we’re not quite official but it’s legitimate.

I just wanted to say that those of you who judge a season’s success solely on “did they win a SB?” are kinda like missing the point. It’s truly the journey - not the destination. Don’t get me wrong - that SB was amazing. But the ability to appreciate this team’s success every season in grazing the apex is still really ****ing cool.

Next week? Let’s ****ing do this. We re-tooled our offense and had the best offense in football and made it just as far as we did in prior seasons. Time to just appreciate how fortunate we are. We are THAT team.

So this is this thread. Be grateful and thankful. How much closure has this given your 12yr old self? Can you step back from bitching about Karlaftis in coverage to appreciate that we’re here? Can we give a group hug to Toub, Spags, and Reid?

Love you all.

In Mahomes We Trust, its really just that simple

Its a high ankle? nah just get me back in the game, coach!

He gutted it out like the Big Boss he is, as his teammates learn from his example

You know, looking back, I loved that Lenny Dawson put KC on the football map being SB MVP. Watched him do sports on TV after he retired. Watched him kick ass on Inside the NFL. He was about the ONLY thing we could truly hang our hat on, other than DT being so dominant. Then he died and it seemed that the team never really had an identity after that...sure DV's team were exciting to watch, but it was a lopsided affair, doomed to fail. Drafting projects that never panned out. Brutal playoff losses, blaming refs for never being able to get over the hump, small market bias, etc etc etc.

Now? Mahomes and Reid and Veach have made us solid contenders with an identity few will ever match. We're watching Mahomes and Kelce make history before our very eyes..

Just bliss. Contentment. Gratitude. Home grown pride.

I'll be honest, when Pat got hurt, it deflated my balloon and I thought there was a good chance we could lose. But I wasn't mad. This team and organization have already given me what I only used to hope and dream for.

This is all just extra frosting on the cake.

Just remember...there's no pressure on this team now.

We're not supposed to be here.

Our opponent is supposed to be the one grabbing the headlines.

Us? We're yesterday's news, flyover country got their Lombardi, whatever.

No pressure. At all.

The Chiefs deserve this after all we have been through.

Other franchises have suffered immensely too so I have some sympathy for them.
