I'd have to be truly blown away to even take one on the 2nd day...

My 1st and 2nd days for the foreseeable future are gonna be heavy on OL, DL and WR.

I'm not sure I'll be all that interested anymore by the time PM retires.

I'll be nearly 60 by then (presuming he has about 15 years left). I'll have more than a half-century of Chiefs fandom under my belt and coming on 30 years as a season ticket holder.

And there's just gonna be nowhere to go but down.

I feel like Mahomes is gonna be my last ride. What can follow that?

After looking specifically at the offensive tackle list and then considering the free agent market this offseason, it seems pretty clear to me that OBJ is going to be here playing on the second consecutive franchise tag. Minus Veach pulling GM sorcery somehow, of course.

I think he's getting his extension.

The franchise tag just doesn't make any sense at this point. There's nothing left to learn. And your leverage VANISHES if you tag him this season and hope to extend him next season. You're really gonna get cornholed then.

The only reason you'd tag him is if you look at the OT class this year and believe there's a 2024 starting LT available that needs a year to develop. But again, if you're wrong, you're ****ed going into contract talks next season. Moreover, we still need a RT as well.

I just don't see the upshot of tagging him again.

Everyone keeps pumping the tag and trade scenario but that leaves a huge gaping hole on your offensive line. I seriously doubt they do that. I believe they'll get the extension done and CP will shit it's collective pants.

It only leaves a gaping hole if there is no plan for it. Veach wouldn't do that, I agree.

But if he's got a plan in place to pivot to, then he very well might.

Remember, he cut Fisher and Schwartz at the same time, and we had...literally nothing at either OT spot. That was a little scary. But he had a plan.

And a plan 'b'.

Which is what we got.
