Couch-Potatoes Max Cap Mock

MOCK OFFSEASON

I'm operating under the assumption that we win the SB. I'm going to max out all of our cap capabilities in order to keep the band together (likely unrealistic) and look to add some young playmakers.

DISCLAIMERS

This is not a very conservative approach, I watch zero college football, some of these guys probably go 1 rd up or down. I'm a die hard homer who's cap space optimism is apparent. This is just for fun. Do we really have this many draft picks?

Problem is I think we need a LT that is less "developmental". I'd almost certainly try and get Tyron Smith for a year and pick a LT R2 that may need a bit more time.
I would want absolutely nothing to do with Tyron Smith and his injury problems. Dude hasn't played a full season in like 8 years. If you're going to go that way, just sign Becton. At least he's young and can play either side well.

This might be the year Veach finally tries to solve LT in the draft. If Amarius Mims slips a bit, he seems like the young, athletic freak he'd want to hand Andy.

I'm absolutely not zeroed in on WR as THE pick in round 1. I think a solid veteran plus another round 2 guy is likely unless he does sign a vet LT.

I agree, I think we're probably looking at LT or DT in the first depending on whether we sign Jones or not.

I might be wrong but I think Smith has played pretty much this whole year, and I'm not convinced Becton can play anywhere near his level. But yeah, no doubt a gamble. I'd just prefer the one I KNOW can play at an elite level. Only other option I can see is Trent Brown.

I don't love the approach, but I just can't see LT options and i don't think they pick an LT first given the need at WR, nor should they. I think it's a WR first and then maybe a trade up or 2nd round pick on whatever is the best developmental LT left. In that case I'd be amazed if we don't want an insurance policy, and that's really what I'd expect of a Smith or Becton. A kind of "please give us any many snaps as possible before you break and we put in the new guy. Fingers crossed he's ready".

I could possibly be talked into a LT R1, I just think the quality is well below the WR options at that point. The WRs are deep but I'd hate to miss out on one of the better ones.

Tyron Smith has missed 5 games this year, and currently has a back issue, but might play tonight vs Detroit. He also missed all but 4 games last year, and is 33.

Morris looked serviceable until the Raiders game, but they all looked like shit that game. So I'm not throwing him out just yet.

Hmm, well that's...not ideal. Still don't want Becton either. That leaves, what, Trent Brown? Urgh, man I'd really not go super early for LT in the draft but it looks likely we'll have to. Absolutely no way you can roll into next year with Morris and Smith re-signed.

I agree. It funny to watch some dismiss him so fast because of one game. The whole line struggled that game too. Let him continue to develop and be patient this year. Experience and development will be huge for him and is what is needed

If Sneed prices himself out of staying with us, we keep Gay and still do the same above.
