If the Chiefs are trading up bigtime... why not Jordan Davis?

This guy is a slam dunk, safe pick. He's a better Dontari Poe.

He's going to solidify the interior of the DL, and since we apparently don't care about the EDGE position, shouldn't we build up the interior?

This also gives us more juice to trade away or release Chris Jones in the event that he asks for a massive raise next time around.

He also compliments Jones as a space eater -- he has the versatility to play either 1 tech or 3 tech.

We spent 2nd rounders on two linebackers, and what better way to emphasize their talents by than signing a 350 pound uber athletic monster who take up blocks on the internal?

Why are we so tunnel vision that it's unthinkable?

Personally, I question his stamina. He played in like 40% of snaps despite being an athletic powerhouse. If I'm going up to get a DT that high, he better be giving me 60% of snaps. That, and this is the point where I'd very much be on board with Meck in saying he better be a guy that's getting me sacks. I'm not moving to the top 15 to get a guy that anchors at NT because I can easily take Travis Jones at 30 to do that or even wait until the 2nd or 3rd for guys like Mathis or Uwazurike that can provide some pass rush with it.

Stamina can be solved by a strength and conditioning staff.

Is he a difference maker along the interior of your line? Then you book him.

Because we're paying Chris Jones a truckload of money, and have Nnadi plus a rotation of serviceable guys as well? I could see us taking a DT in the 1st if one of the top 3 fall to us, because the talent falls off awfully fast after that at DT and we have a ton of picks and don't really value CBs. I admit it would help get pressure on the QB by putting another big body in the middle to free up Chris Jones. But if we didn't take a DT in the first 3 rounds, I wouldn't exactly be upset.

He's not a difference-maker unless he's affecting the QB and disrupting the backfield.

He has 11.5 career tfl. He has 7 career sacks. In 41 career games. His best season was last year with 32 tackles, 5.0 tfl, and 2 sacks.

Perrion Winfrey had 11 tfl and 5.5 sacks last year. Phidarian Mathis had 10.5 tfl and 9.0 sacks last year. Eyioma Uwazurike had 12.0 tfl and 9.0 sacks last year. Matthew Butler had 8.5 tfl and 5.0 sacks last year. Travis Jones had 7.5 tfl and 4.0 sacks last year. Hell, John Ridgeway, considered a NT only, had 39 tackles, 4.0 tfl, and 2 sacks.

I know stats aren't everything, but neither are measurables. This guy hasn't been a disruptive force nearly enough for me to say he's going to absolutely be one in the NFL. He could be, he could end up the next Dontari Poe that reaches his athletic potential and dominates.

Am I going to give it all up to go get him over an edge rusher that has produced? **** no.

Trade up for a space eater? I'd rather extend Nnadi and use the draft picks elsewhere. Look for another Mike Pennel on the scrap heap to back him up.

Jordan Davis would be a 2nd round pick if he didn't blow up the combine.

Agreed, if not later. He's been, from a performance standpoint, the same guy as John Ridgeway and Neil Farrell. Farrell actually has more TFL. Both of those guys are considered 4th-5th round prospects.

Fatigue is definitely a concern. World beater then five plays later looks like a JAG

If we can't get a trade up to Thibodeaux or Johnson, Wyatt or Davis is definitely my next move. Fatigue isn't a concern for me as we have bodies to rotate on the DL.

I'm not trading up for a guy who needs a good back up to rotate with him.

I just don't really see/believe Davis is going to develop as a pass rusher, and I'm not sure he's more than a 2-down DT.

I wouldn't trade up for it, especially when there are guys who have shown they CAN rush the passer from DT who will almost certainly be there at 29/30.

Because Ebiketie/Mafe and Wyatt/Jones would be more impactful overall than Davis on his own.

DL really is a function of its combined ability rather than individual greatness. And while a true monster can be a force multiplier like Aaron Donald, I just don't think Jordan is that guy.

Moreover, SOMEBODY was the engine on the GA defensive line. With Davis, Walker and Wyatt all on that line, at least one of them was a product of the rest of them. You willing to take the chance in trading up that it was Davis that was bringing up the rear? Because we saw how the Peppers/Sims gamble went when it was very obvious, very quickly that it was Peppers that made Sims look like an elite talent and not vice versa.

Nah - just not a risk I'm taking.

I prefer trading up for Wyatt. But a DT that big and athletic I would think has to have some pass rush upside.

And we can get up into the middle of the first and still not miss out on a Mafe, Ebeketie or maybe Wiliams. Hell we could get one of them and still have a shot at Ojabo.
