I was going to go see it UNTIL I read the following from another site I visit.

Quote:
I timed it at 1h15 minutes, making it the shortest movie I've ever seen in a theater.

How critics can give this steaming pile of horseshit anything but three thumbs down is beyond me.

If you're thinking of seeing it, just take the 12$, burn em and flush the ashes down the toilet. At least you won't waste your time.

If people say: well I'll go and see it on the bigscreen cause it'll be way better than on DVD, well, it won't. It'll suck just as much.

Yes you do see the monster. Oooooooooooooooo!

Jittery movie. Check.

Bad actors. Check.

Characters doing stuff NO ONE would ever consider doing considering the circumstances. Like running towards a skyscraper-size monster that's in the process of destroying NY or, even worse, thinking of filming yourself doing it. Check.

Leaving the theater not understanding anything about how the monster came about. Check.

Don't know if there will be a sequel to explain things (Alfalfafield?) but it certainly can't be worse than this. Only Ishtar was worse than this in my books.

Consider yourself warned. I took one for y'all.

I've been reading some other online reviews, Mr. Nzoner and they're all over the map. Apparently, this movie isn't for everybody. Maybe one of those films that you have to be predisposed to enjoy.

It makes a decent double feature with Hudson Hawk as well.

It's about 73 minutes of actual movie, give or take some seconds.

It is very short and in terms of plot, it was pretty poor. Having to put up with the shaky camera the whole movie was nauseating, the acting was pretty bad on the whole, and I really never found myself giving two shits about the characters or their drama.

Strictly as a 'monster' movie, it's serviceable. You get good glimpses of the beast(which, at the very least, is unique in design), there's a lot of destruction, and the parasitic spider-things were a nice touch. Aside from Marlena, you didn't see too much on the death front though, which was probably so it could pass for a PG-13 rating(which is stupid; they should've went balls out and taken the R).

The unexplained origin of the monster and such is annoying, but seeing as this was just a single POV account, it would've been hard to work in real detail like that. I assume they've already had the sequels and stuff planned out or this movie is/was pretty much a gigantic waste of time.

I understand your points, and respect your opinion on movies in general.

That said, I completely disagree with your opinion of this particular movie.

It's not so much a movie as an experience. I've always loved "giant monster" movies. This one puts you right in the action. I love the fact that there are no recognizable actors. I don't want to see Will Smith... I want to see normal people who are scared out of their minds.

This movie delivered everything I hoped for. I don't need the scientist to tell me where it came from... or the army to find a weak spot and kill it.

I just wanted to see a badass ****ing monster rampage around NYC, and feel some of the terror that would bring.

The movie delivered on that. For me, anyway.
