Todd Haley's Chiefsplanet Approval Rating

I really should leave someone like Rainman to do this thread. I'll probably approach it completely the wrong way. But eff it. I'll do it anyway.

Give your percent satisfaction with what Todd can do. There is no, "Yes, he's good but ______." If there's a stipulation, it gets factored in as a positive or negative result.

Factor everything in. The kind of job he's doing now, the kind of job you think he'll do, the kind of job he'll do when/if he's a head coach next season, etc. Pick a number.

I'll give him 71-80% just because it is his first year and he is dealing with the Focking mess left by King Carl and The Herminator.

Next year by this time if it isn't any better put the poll back up.

I didn't get a chance to watch the game so when I watch the replay on NFL network I may change my mind.

I don't know if I can even answer this question in 2009. Ultimately talent wins games, and there just isn't much yet. There've been a lot of guys in rebuilds like this that fans wanted run out of town in year one that eventually showed themselves to be good coaches. I think in the end the job Pioli does will go a long way towards determining what kind of job Haley does.

I'm asking because we seem to have a lot of people who think Haley is a shitty coach. And yet the poll results don't show that at all.

41-50% because he and Pioli ignored the OL, and he's had some questionable playcalling.

I think Haley has personally cost us some games-plus the pussy crap of running out the clock last week.

be surprised if he manages to win one game this year with that play calling and trick plays that have a very low percentage of success.

I went with 81-90%. Call it 83.

I like:

1. He holds players accountable. You don't perform, you are going to be gone.

2. He works on problems. Callahan is a serious upgrade at RT. We had some success in running that direction today. Pass protection was better, no goodt but better than last week. Penalties were down this week.

3. Players give a full game effort.

4. His game plans gave us the best chance of being competitive against far superior teams in the Giants and Baltimore. We were not competitive, but I think the game plans gave us a chance.

5. I have no problem with canning Gailey. Better to get a headstart on installing the real offense than to waste a year in an offense we won't be using long term.

6. Takes the blame for his own failures.

Things I don't like:

1. Some of the situational play calls leave me scratching my head. That delay draw to LJ. Doesn't he know that LJ needs 3 or 4 strides to get going? Needs more plays past the sticks on 3rd down. More first down passing. Some intermediate pass routes. Some of this is a trade off on 4 above, but I think there is room for improvement here.

2. Whatever hand he played in not bringing in more OL talent.

3. Whatever role he played in going Cassel over Sanchez.

Things that cause me to give him a higher grade:

1, These aren't very good players. He isn't running the schemes that he'd because of that. I'll give him a couple of years.

Will he extend this to Cassel? Not likely.

Even Herm started the season 1-3 last year.

So in terms of W-L, you're incorrect.

He'll be a great coach for another organization in about 8 years.

No, he doesn't.

If he DID, Niswanger, Goof and Nsukwe would have been gone a long time ago.

Especially Niswanger.

No, he's not. He got Cassel killed a few times and didn't pick up his man in the run game when pulling more than twice.

He may prove to be an upgrade over Nsukwe, but he didn't show it today.

Yeah, sure they do. What about the coach?

Seriously? The Giants were in absolutely NO danger of losing. The Eagles were in absolutely danger of losing. His "gameplan" in Baltimore amounted to a measly 10 points. If it hadn't been for a blocked punt for a TD (which hasn't bee in the game plan lately, I guess?) or an interception return which setup a quick TD, the Chiefs would have been a 28 point loser, instead of a 14 point loser.

Either way, they lost all four games.

This offense after the Titans game when the spread was employed, was 250% better than the current offense. The Chiefs moved the ball between the 20's much better and actually scored points early and often.

Haley's been a disaster as OC and QB coach.
