My shortlist at #23.

This is extremely premature, but O and I were talking about it in another thread, so.

(a.) Assuming the following players are off the board:

QB Teddy Bridgewater, Louisville
QB Blake Bortles, UCF
QB Johnny Manziel. Texas A&M
QB Derek Carr, Fresno State
WR Sammy Watkins, Clemson
WR Mike Evans, Texas A&M
TE Eric Ebron, North Carolina
OT Jake Matthews, Texas A&M
OT Greg Robinson, Auburn
DT/DE Ra'Shede Hageman, Minnesota
DE Jadeveon Clowney, South Carolina
DE Kony Ealy, Missouri
OLB Khalil Mack,Buffalo
OLB Anthony Barr,UCLA
CB Justin Gilbert, Oklahoma State
S HaHa Clinton-Dix, Alabama

(b.) And assuming no game-changing FAs are added.

Here's a comprehensive list right now of who I'd take at 23, in order, as of now:

1. WR Marquise Lee, USC -- elite speed receiving potential
2. TE Jace Amaro, Texas Tech -- peerless route-runner at the TE position
3. WR Odell Beckham, Jr., LSU -- fantastic playmaker, great YAC guy
4. TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins, Washington -- project w/ huge size to be elite in future seasons
5. DE Stephon Tuitt, Notre Dame -- project with elite athleticism at 3-4 DE position
6. OT Cyrus Kouandjio, Alabama -- ideal size/athleticism to fortify OT position
7. CB Darqueze Dennard, Michigan State -- less of a need, but great in man coverage
8. NT Louis Nix, Notre Dame -- if Poe to DE is a serious option, and Nix lasts, this is worth considering
9. S Calvin Pryor, Louisville -- will need work in coverage, but great at eating up space
10. CB Jason Verrett, TCU -- the next Brandon Flowers
11. WR Allen Robinson, Penn State -- potential to be a really good #2 at the next level
12. OLB Trent Murphy, Stanford -- great passrusher, less than ideal athleticism

I've seen mocks where Pryor lasts into the 3rd. Is that possible?

I doubt it.

Heavy need for safeties in the NFL right now, and Pryor's arguably the best in this draft.

There are so many solid players in this years draft that most mocks are all over the place. I sure hope we don't reach at 23 and really take a difference maker on either side of the ball. My preference is Ebron. I sure hope that Dorsey really does his homework on player evaluation this year. Our window with the core players currently on the team is starting to close. We need those one or two difference makers that can put this team over the top!

I think Ebron would be a dream.

I think Amaro has a better chance of lasting to our pick, however.

I think we have plenty of young, proven talent on this team. Yeah, some are getting long in the tooth... But I think we're set better than most. (Pittsburgh comes to mind)

Beckham or Amaro. We need playmakers now, not those who are projects or have potential.

Good list Direckshun, but I'd rather have Odell Beckham versus Marquis Lee. I think Texas' Mike Davis is as good as Lee, both are exactly the same size and Davis is potentially there with our third round pick.

Quite frankly, Lee struggled a bit this past season with drops and production without the presence of Robert Woods, and his yards from scrimmage has dropped significantly each year since his freshman year. I don't think he's a "bell cow" type of receiver and he was able to take advantage of mismatches in coverage at the college level due to the presence of Woods and a pretty good QB in Barkley. He won't be afforded that luxury at the next level. He's getting first round consideration based on his sophomore year, not this past season, where he only had 791 yards and four TDs in 11 games.
