A mathematical conundrum...
First of all let me say that Bearcat reinstated my thread starting privileges. I promise to behave.

This is an ongoing debate about series of numbers.

Solution 1:

X = 1+2+3+4+5+.....

Solve for X.

X = infinity

Solution 2:

X = 1+2+3+4+5+....

Solve for X.

X = -1/12.

WHAT?

Crazy isn't it?

Solution 2 is accepted by mathematicians and physicists by a large majority.

Just a bit of a brain puzzler for all you geeks.

Ban should = Infinity

If I remember correctly, you retired rather recently this year, didn't you? When my dad retired he seemed restless until he got full time into bee keeping. I'm about 10 years away from being able to retire, so I wonder what I'm going to do to fill my days as well.

Trying to inspire young people.

No vitriol from me. I just read your post and remembered you talking about retiring. I don't know the answers to your numbers, but I had a long drive home from Minneapolis today and I had time to think about the things I want to do when I finally retire.
