****Official 2008 CP Mock Draft Picks Thread****

The following trades have effected the draft order:

Corey Williams to Cleveland for a R2 pick.

Shaun Rogers to Cleveland for a R3 pick.

Kris Jenkins to the Jets for a R3 pick.

Marcus Stroud to the Bills for a R3 pick.

Redskins to Broncos. The Washington Redskins traded their fourth-round selection in 2008, and their third-round selection in 2007 (used to select Ryan Harris) to the Denver Broncos as part of a three-team trade in which Washington received T.J. Duckett and Atlanta received Ashley Lelie. (This was the result of a formula which could have had Denver and Washington swapping 2007 first-round selections.)

Saints to Jets. The Saints traded their fourth-round selection in 2008 to the Jets, for Jonathan Vilma.

Jets to Panthers. The New York Jets traded their third-round and fifth-round selections to the Carolina Panthers in a deal that sent Kris Jenkins to New York.

Dolphins to Chiefs. Miami (conditionally) traded its fifth-round selection in 2008 to the Kansas City Chiefs in exchange for Trent Green. The selection would have become a fourth-round selection if Green had met certain performance criteria.

Bears to Bills. Chicago (conditionally) traded their fifth-round selection in 2008 to Buffalo in exchange for Darwin Walker. The round of the selection may change, depending on Walker's playing time.

Panthers to Bears. The Carolina Panthers traded their fifth-round selection in 2008 to Chicago in exchange for Chris Harris.

Raiders to Broncos. Oakland (conditionally) traded their fifth-round selection in 2008 to Denver in exchange for Gerard Warren.

Bills to Jaguars The Buffalo Bills traded a 3rd and 5th round selection to the Jacksonville Jaguars in return for DT Marcus Stroud.

Seahawks to Browns. The Seattle Seahawks traded their sixth-round selection in 2008 to Cleveland in exchange for Charlie Frye.[24]

Packers to Giants. The Green Bay Packers traded their sixth-round selection in 2008 to the New York Giants in exchange for running back Ryan Grant.

Broncos to Rams. Denver traded their sixth-round selection in 2008 to the St. Louis Rams for defensive tackle Jimmy Kennedy.[26] The trade occurred after the Broncos had tried to trade the same pick to Miami for defensive tackle Dan Wilkinson; that trade was voided.

Browns to Eagles. Cleveland traded their sixth-round selection in 2008 to Philadelphia for center Hank Fraley. The trade was conditional on games started by Fraley, and could have fallen to a seventh-round pick, but Fraley started all 16 games.

Cowboys/Dolphins swap. The teams swapped their sixth-round selections in a trade involving Jason Ferguson.

Jaguars to Vikings. Jacksonville traded their sixth-round selection for Troy Williamson.

Texans to Broncos. Houston traded their sixth-round pick for Chris Myers.

Steelers to Falcons. The Pittsburgh Steelers traded their seventh-round selection in 2008 to Atlanta for kick/punt returner Allen Rossum.

Seahawks to Eagles. Seattle traded their seventh-round selection in 2008 to Philadelphia for fullback Josh Parry.

Eagles to Bills. Philadelphia traded their seventh-round selection in 2008, and defensive tackle Darwin Walker, to Buffalo for linebacker Takeo Spikes and quarterback Kelly Holcomb.

Rams to Vikings. St. Louis traded their seventh-round selection in 2008 to Minnesota for offensive tackle Adam Goldberg.

Giants to Chiefs. The New York Giants traded their seventh-round selection in 2008 to Kansas City for kicker Lawrence Tynes.

Vikings to Jets. Minnesota traded their seventh-round pick in 2008 to the Jets in exchange for Brooks Bollinger.

Bengals to Rams. Cincinnati traded their seventh-round pick in 2008 to St. Louis in exchange for Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Hence my delimia in making the pick, having another young QB with some great upside for the pack's QB farm to do some good with, I just think that's the way they would go, provided they see something that would confirm what several scouting reports say about Henne.

We don't even know that A. Rodgers is going to be a great QB either. Maybe they both do good enough to where the staff find themselves like the chargers with Rivers and Brees.

Besides, you know how RB's are a dime a dozen.....

This mock is making a point for why we should be going after Jake Long if he is available. Mecca has said all along that the reason to pass on him is that there will be good tackles left when we pick in round 2, and the d line men will not be there. Yet look at what happened. The second teir of o tackles went before our second pick leaving Mecca to pick...........another defensive lineman. At what point to we address the worst position on our team??? Second day picks for the line should go towards OG/C. CB still needs addressed. Hopefully WR will be addressed as well. I have no problem drafting a defensive lineman, despite the fact that it is not an area of great need, but to pass on Jake Long and take d line with our first 2 picks just makes absolutely no sense to me.

The odds of as many lineman going as quick and fast as they did in this draft are slim and none......

People here get caught up in Chiefs needs and start applying them to every team. If basically 10 OT's are gone by mid 2nd round, it would have the same odds of happening as the Chiefs making the playoffs next year.

People here get caught up in Chiefs needs and start applying them to every team. If basically 10 OT's are gone by mid 2nd round, it would have the same odds of happening as the Chiefs making the playoffs next year.

Yes and no. You have to consider need in the equation. If the bpa at pick 7 was Matt Ryan, should NE pick him? Most experts pick McFadden as the best player in the draft, but expect him to fall to between 6-10. Why? Because the first 5 teams have more pressing NEEDS. If he is the bpa at pick 5, I guess we should pick Mcfadden. Jake Long is considered by many to be the best player in the draft and expect him to be gone by our pick. If he is still available, and fills a pressing need, then why should we pass on him? I realize that the draft is deep in tackles, but they are not the caliber of Jake Long. He will anchor the line for the team that takes him for years.

You aren't correctly gauging your sample. This mock is being conducted by people with a bias to choosing LT high because they are fans of a team with a weak o-line which had been historically dominant.

You wouldn't expect to see a bunch of RBs fly off the board early when a bunch of Donk fans are doing a mock, would you?

Do not compare a DE to a RB or a QB, 1 QB plays........Justin Tuck is the Giants 3rd end, it is a completely different scenario.

Also RBs are devalued to me it's different.

It's more complicated than that, and it's why drafting is an art, not a science. RB is not a valuable position. If a TE has a draft grade of 100, you shouldn't draft him over a DE with a grade of 98, for the same reason that a team would be foolish to take McFadden so early. RBs don't have near the longevity that a DE, DT, LT, LB, or QB does.

Unless you have a Barry Sanders like talent, it's foolish to pick a RB in the top 5, IMO.
