This Sanchez Chap

I fully admit that I'm not very savvy when it comes to football, but while watching the Chiefs game this weekend, CBS suddenly turned to the Jets' game instead (I'm not really sure why). Anyway, the Jets had a QB named Sanchez that seemed really good a throwing the ball (which is, I think, the primary goal of a QB). So, I started thinking: "I think this is the chap who the Chiefs could have drafted this year, but didn't."

Is that correct?

If so, how much are the Jets paying this Sanchez fellow in comparison to Cassel?

Thanks.

If TheGuardian is who some of us think that he is then he was invisible against Northwest Missouri State in 2006 as a backup that saw a fair amount of playing time. Nice job tying for 6th in the conference during your senior season, Mule.

I can't bring myself to care about the New York Jets' quarterback situation.

I don't think that's fair or true. Pioli did resurge the team from a bottom-feeder to a very competitive playoff team with Bledsoe at the helm. And people forget that for 1-2 seasons, the Pats babied Brady with a very simple, game manager type of role. The first Super Bowl was won with defense, not offense. Brady was good enough to finish games when they needed him most, but for the most part, it was his supporting cast that set the table for him.

I will agree that over time, the team's ability to sustain success is largely due to Brady. They haven't been nearly as good in their drafting now as they were before Brady.

Bottom feeder? The Tuna had them in a bowl not long before.

And did it work?

Did Brady win?

Yes. Yes he did.

Brady did what was necessary to win...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

Cassel is a ball protector most of the time, I'll give him that. It also makes Johnny a very dull boy who holds on too long, cherishes his dink and dunk, and ends up on his ass in the backfield too much.
And unlike Sanchez, Mark Castle reads the field as if he were comparison shopping at Hy Vee rather than urgently trying finding an open receiver. "Castle! You can't grill a ****ing burger back there son"!

But who knows? Maybe one day he'll consistently find an open man beyond 10 yards from the line of scrimmage!

Oh! Dare to dream! DREAM I SAY!
