This Sanchez Chap

I fully admit that I'm not very savvy when it comes to football, but while watching the Chiefs game this weekend, CBS suddenly turned to the Jets' game instead (I'm not really sure why). Anyway, the Jets had a QB named Sanchez that seemed really good a throwing the ball (which is, I think, the primary goal of a QB). So, I started thinking: "I think this is the chap who the Chiefs could have drafted this year, but didn't."

Is that correct?

If so, how much are the Jets paying this Sanchez fellow in comparison to Cassel?

Thanks.

Will we hear 'dirty Sanchez' on a network broadcast?

Bad game. Very, very bad game.

Just a guess, but he'll probably recover. If he's still making these same mistakes at 27, we should be concerned.

Which was also my point early on. Sanchez has been riding the crest of that Jets defense for 3 weeks. The Jets defense still only allowed 10 points to the best offense in the league yesterday, but Sanchez shit the bed all day long. I have NO DOUBT that if the Jets had somehow managed to win that game certain people on this board would have been all over his nutsack talking about how he won the game and "made plays" (dude aint made a fuggin play since college) to help his team win. Sharper talked about the fact that he locked onto his primary target all day. Not to mention the fact that the kid has no field awareness or pocket presence. Sanchez can be a good care taker quarterback for that defense. But that's about all he's ever going to amount to. Last year Matt Ryan had a few bad games of course, but even early on you could see he had the instincts that Sanchez is severely lacking in.

I agree. And Cassel has never got a game in which he coughed up a pick 6 and fumbled in the end zone and threw 2 more picks after that. In case that's what you were getting at.

Excellent Points. But I guess Sanchez will get a free ride until he's 27 with this bunch.

Last year people were saying Flacco was just a game manager and IMO he is showing he can be more. Your putting too much on such a small sample of pro games.

I don't know how I can make myself any clearer. While Flacco may have been more of a game manager last year he and Ryan had things like pocket presence and field awareness that Sanchez clearly does not have. It's like trying to teach a running back vision. It's not possible. Sanchez wasn't even aware he was running around in the end zone yesterday. That's something guy should be aware of pre-snap. He never felt people around him and seems to lack some of the very important instincts that both Flacco and Ryan showed even as rookies. Sanchez could end up being a decent QB one day but he's always going to have a problem with ball control (he's been a fumbling machine so far and I don't know of a single QB that really ever corrects that, look at Dave Krieg and Culpepper) and pocket presence. Right now we'd still be 0-4 but look even less competitive if Sanchez were on this team starting.

Backup?

Explains why he doesn't want to talk about playing after JuCo.

CC is not that type. He's got solid info, or he wouldn't be using it.

Sounds to me like someone's been outed.
